When will WB release remasters for 5150, 0U812, F.U.C.K., LIVE: RHRN, Balance (& III)

When will WB release remasters for VH albums with Sammy, and even VH III? I'd love to see them go to HDCD, like they did with the first 6 albums! It's 20-bit audio versus 16-bit audio with the right CD/DVD player and setup! Not to mention the newer technology that they now have to remaster the songs! I know some people have mentioned that they would love to hear 5150 & OU812 without the electronic drum sounds. Instead, Al could use his real drumsets (which he may have recorded, back in the day). Also, VH III needs to be remastered, badly! Even Edward will admit that! That may be down the road, but first, they must do the 4 studio albums with Sammy, and the double CD live album. Hopefully soon. Anybody know when?

I think it would be tragic if they "remixed" any of the 1st 2 sammy records. Electric drum sounds or not......thats the way they were recorded..it's a date in time, a sound.......let them be. Remaster them only.......

I heard a rumor that it might happen later this year, but "rumors are just that."
Besides, III needs much more than remastering. I would like to hear 5150 with real drums (OU812 already has real drums), but I ain't gonna happen. FUCK sounds a little muddy, but Balance sounds good as is, IMO.

From what I've heard, the stuff on BOBW was all remastered; and it sounds it. VERY loud. If that is the result of the efforts, then I say bring it on!!

That would be funny if Sam were fat or something.
Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

I hope the do, Black N Blue sounds way better on BOBW, as does WCTBL, way more bottom end, I doubt they could do much with Balance as it is near perfect right now, but 5150 and OU812 could be punched up.

"Balance" is the best-produced VH album, they should leave that one alone. Doesn't need a thing.

i think rerecording something that took place 20 years ago is a bad idea...dont messed with art.....its in the 80s man....what are you gonna do take out all of the 80's synthesizers and stuff? just a remaster would be fine cause they definitely need that.

I'm all for a remaster if there is something extra on it to make me buy it yet again. I mean, I already own the CD, casette, and LP so make it worth my while.

I'm quite sure many demos and other stuff is in 5150 Studio somewhere. But, here is what we know to exist since most of us have these:

5150: besides the demos, there are extended versions of WCTBL & Dreams already released not to mention "live" versions from LWAN or other source.

OU812: The "pop remix" of FWYS exists, plus "live" versions from Tokyo or other source.

F*CK: This one is kinda hard since since no demos exist that we know of and the entire CD was released on LRHRN.

Balance: Besides the obvious "Crossing Over", there are "live" versions from Toronto or other source.

Having said that, if they didn't come out in 2004, I have doubts they will be released/remastered at all.
    Van Halen Live: 15 shows.
Have I seen my last one?

C'mon guys, quit fooling yourselves. Yes, in time they'll probably release "remastered" Sammy-era CD's, but they will not have any extras on them (that would require the slightest bit of effort from VH). They remastered the first 6 albums (Roth) with nothing extra, why start now?
I agree that Balance doesn't need to be remastered, however if they do, they should put "Crossing Over" on it, hell, the Japanese version had it.
Even a live DVD of this past tour is probably not going to happen. I hope it does, but I doubt it will.
I wonder what would happen if VH ever released a box set. Every other band seems to release box sets with unreleased stuff, demos, live material, but VH just seems to put out stuff that we already have.
Over the past 9 YEARS! we've gotten a total of 17 songs from them (and 2 were forgettable instrumentals). I could go even further, since 1992 we've gotten 25 songs, 5 instrumentals, and "How Many Say I." That's 13 years, people!
Only 1 of their last 3 releases has been original material.
I'm sorry I guess I needed to vent.

    Van Halen still rocks, though.

I totally agree that the first three VH albums with Sammy need remastering, but Balance definitely was well-produced. Nevertheless, they all could be UPSCALED to 20-bit audio in HDCD, like the first 6 albums! Is BOBW in HDCD? I didn't see the logo. Have you guys heard the remastered albums in 20-bit HDCD audio? It's SO MUCH better! You must have the right CD/DVD player with the HDCD logo, and you must connect your input to your receiver via the analog input, since the CD/DVD player does the decoding, and sends the audio in raw mode. Optical input would default back to 16-bit, as the receiver would be doing the decoding, as most receivers (I haven't even seen one) don't have HDCD decoders built in.
