    Default Yet Another Recording Question

I've asked this question a billion times before, but let me show you something I'm considering buying to lay down some riffs at home.

I want to buy a POD....record stuff onto my computer and get a drum machine to lay down some beats.

What do I buy.....and I'm a cheap O.............sound quality isn't a big issue, just need it to sound decent and to be able to multitrack.

    Here's what I found.

Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. There's just a small group of people who have strange allegiances and like to get into petty pissing contests that I can't believe everyone on this site isn't bored of. - Brett

    M-Audio makes great stuff....

You'll be limited more by your computer's resources than anything.

    Default yes, but...

M-Audio is excellent. But, I wouldn't recommend a USB interface. I play the drums (electric) and was thinking along the same lines as you--something quick and dirty. Well, there were major latency issues and I was forced to take it back. I went with the slightly more expensive Firewire interface instead. I've learned a valuable lesson in life when I see something I want/need. Always wait a little longer/save a little more money to get something that you know will work other than spending twice as much to correct your first mistake!

You'll need a full duplex soundcard...one that will allow you to listen to pre-recorded tracks while you record additional tracks. I have an M-Audio Audiophile 24/96, which is an excellent deal IMO.
