    Default Recent DLR Article....

This was featured in the music section of this week's San Diego Reader, which is basically the same thing as L.A. Weekly:

Is David Lee Roth the next Howard Stern?

"He was the best so far," said one Infinity/CBS employee about the auditions for a Stern replacement.

The former Van Halen lead singer recently tried out as a nighttime talk-show host at FM talk station KLSX (97.1 FM) in Los Angeles.

"They also auditioned [comic] Norm MacDonald and [The Simpsons writer and producer] Sam Simon, who worked as a team. Norm MacDonald was awful. Tommy Chong is coming in. They are talking with everybody from Andrew 'Dice' Clay, Adam Carolla, Jimmy Kimmel, Robin Williams, and Chris Rock," said the employee, who did not want to be identified.

Last week Stern said the day a bill passes that will allow individuals to be personally fined $500,000 by the FCC for each incident of on-air indecency, he would stop talking and start playing music until he leaves traditional radio in December. That bill, authored by Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), overwhelmingly passed the House of Representatives February 16. -- Ken Leighton

The story was accompanied by a photo of a very haggard looking Roth.
"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

"This is a lttle prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen. ."

"I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately."

    -George Carlin 1937 - 2008

I used to love listening to KLSX when I lived down in SoCal. I think Roth would do great as a DJ.

    AWESOME!

I have to pick up a copy!!!!! Have you guys heard DLR on Stern? He's hilarious! Funnier than usual (if possible)! I also have an MP3 of a skit where Stern makes fun of DLR, and has an impersanator that sounds JUST LIKE DLR (the scream and all!), and he calls a night club in St. Louis, where "DLR" wants to book himself, and the guy never heard of him. He said, "What's your name? David Lee Rocket?"

Dave is great on radio. He has the voice and all the little anecdotes that
make for great programming. And let's face it, these days he has a face made for radio. j/k. Sorta...
And radio has been great to Steve Jones and now Dickey Barret. The suits
need to forget about jerkoffs like Adam Corolla - who already has a show,
BTW, where he mostly talks about (what else?) jerking off - and let Dave
    rock the mic.

This sounds like something that Dave would be really good at. With his sense of humor and intelligence he'd make a good host. Plus all of the crazy stories he must have from his days on the road (like he wrote about in his book). Could be the beginning of a new career.

Didn't Dave do a short stint of DJ/host at a radio station in the last few years? I remeber catching a part of it and thinking a regular radio show could be his thing.

I've always felt that DLR is one of the best people to interview. For one thing, it would NEVER be boring. Dave gives some good insight on some things but there are times where you have no idea what the hell he is talking about. I'd love to hear DLR on his own radio show.

I really think this would be a fit for him and there's satelite radio too for Roth to try to get into.
