Default Help Big D spend $300!!!

FELLAS! Made a little wager last night with a buddy and now I have come away with 300 beans! THis is how I fund my guitar gear, trick friends into making a bet against me. ANyway, now I need to spend it. I currently have an musicman axis, a line 6 flextone II plus that is about 5 years old, and an old ass boss chorus ensemble from about the same time, maybe a little bit older. SO now I need to upgrade my rig, I want my sound to evolve! What would be the best way to go about doing this? I feel like the amp is a little bit old and its only a 1x12 whichlimits the sounds a bit i think. ANd I guess I can throw in a 100 or 150 of my own money to get something a little more than 300. SHould I get a pod? Should I get a new amp? I like those new spiders, but what suckered me in the last time I got a line 6 was the fact that you can get ALL these different amp sounds. But I have realized that I dont really want many sounds, all I want is a real nice clean tone and a real kick ass hard tone like brown sound and such, you get the idea. SO most of that line 6 stuff goes unused. So is there something out there I can get that wil help me get those two sounds? Or should I get a nice effects processor etc? Pretend its your money what would you do?!?! Help a fellow linker out!

If it were me and my cash I'd try and find a 5150 combo. They are good all around amps and they can't be all bad if EVH endorsed them

Seriously I love the sound of the 5150 with NO effects it sounds sweet.

but dont you have to play those amps loud to get a good sound? Im pretty much at bedroom level for a while but want to get into some minor garage type jamming...plus, isnt the clean sound on the 5150 not so good? I have thought about it too, but had the two concerns I just mentioned...come on guys help a linker out!

How about you give me $300 for a daown payment on a 59 bassman for $6500? They appreciate about a $1000 a year. A great investment!

Peavey Classic 30. Highly recommended. Ebay, maybe for $300. Good luck, get some tubes, there is a difference. 5150 is freakin loud, just so you know.
You know the best tone I ever had was with that little bandmaster cranked to 10. Edward Van Halen, 1980, Guitar Player Magazine.

The Classics are a lot more natural sounding than the 5150, I would recommend them, too. There is a discontinued Classic 20 as well, which I have heard is very nice.
