    Default IE/Mozilla by Firefox

    Anyone have Mozilla?

I've heard nothing but good things about it and that IE sucks compared to it.

Firefox is by far the best browser out there hands down, I would suggest checking that one out.

No contest, hands-down, Firefox is far superior to IE. I challenge anyone to use it for two weeks and not tell me it's better.

And after you download it, check out some of the cool extensions to install at the Mozilla site. Extensions are free "plugin"-type features that add addtional functionality to FF.

In all fairness, I would have to say that Thunderbird (Mozilla's e-mail program) still needs a lot of work.

Firefox is much better. Last semester I was having terrible problems with viruses and spyware w/IE and Firefox was recommended to me and things have been great since. I never get any pop-ups, and hardly any spyware when I scan every few weeks. Definitely switch!

Goo introduced me to it a year ago or so and it is total tits and race cars.

I come in to work, fire up mozilla, expand my bookmarks and have my 10 or so favorite sites all lined up in tabs to cruise through at my leisure. Sites that have user id's and passwords are sitting there pre-filled and ready to enter.

    Faster

    no pop ups

    No viruses

    No spyware

    This is a layup.

The only downside is that there are some sites/applications that require IE. It's no biggie to have both programs available.

Absolutely. You also have an option to right click and "open link in IE" for any progs that for whatever reason require IE.

Firefox is great, and the plugins are great too. The only problem I have with it is that it usually uses one or two hundred megabytes of RAM when I have more than a couple windows open. I used to use Thunderbird for mail on my last computer, but it is a bit slow especially in starting up, so I use crappy ol' Outlook Express for now.

Yeah, I've noticed that if I have a billion tabs open on it and have it idle for a while it studders when I go to bring it back up. It sucks up a bunch of rammage.

Still, for a free gig with killer pluggins and no hassles, there just is no comparison to IE. It toasts it.

I gave-in to using Firefox when IE started bringing in infections, and I haven't thought twice about it.

BTW, when people are making "memory hog" remarks, they're referring to having too many tabs open at once.

Even as a single window browser, it sh*ts all-over IE.

That functionality's brought along with a special extension on update.mozilla.org.

I swear by Firefox. I've been using it since it was called Phoenix and it's been an outstanding browser. It does use a decent amount of memory, but I often leave five windows open with ten tabs each for days at a time and can still come back to it and have it not crash. It is obscenely stable.

Firefox 1.0.1 came out the other day with a few minor updates, BTW. Good to grab.
