    OU812, In Sam's Words...

Did a brief search, and didn't find this covered...

If you'd like to read an interesting article featuring Sam Hagar's view of recording "OU812", check out www.classicrockrevisited.com and click on the "Classic Trax" section.

Not sure when this interview was originally conducted, yet it is somewhat enlightening.

That was a great read. I love that album, it's my favorite. I never heard of this song before...

We had another song called 'Numb To The Touch', which never ever was released, or finished really. If I had to speculate, that song would sound more like a traditional, almost Whitesnake, heavy metal type song. But yeah, it was pretty much a record."

It sounds like it would have been a great song, I love Whitesnake too.

Now that was a treat. Thanks chef.

Aw...Numb to the Touch, eh? When I think about all the unreleased goodies, from the Dave or the Sam years, it just gives me an ulcer.

    kickass sight

What a great sight - thanks dude - good find.

How interesting to hear sam go through each track and get his side of the creative process. i would love to hear a similar interview for the rest of his albums or even the three new songs on BOBW. Maybe 9on10 could quiz him. Yo 9, where ya been?

    Cool find.

Also look up Steve Lukather in the interviews section. He mentions Eddie a few times.

"That's when things were great" - did anyone ever find out when this interview was done?

Man, I wish things were still like that now. Get it done, guys!!!
Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

Cool interview, but I have to disagree with Sammy. He mentions Source of Infection (I think it was that song) as them just having some real fun, screwing 'round, etc, but IMO it still comes across as sterile and scripted (for want of a better term). If OU812 had a few less filler songs (AFU, Source, Sucker) and few more real songs, it'd be a much, much better album.
