Wow, a K102 reference. Haven't thought about that station in years. They became "Magic 102" sometime around 1983 and started with the oldies format. They used to play some great Halen tunes before they switched.

Back when I was a kid...my babysitter(who I wanted to bang the snot out of) was really into Van Halen. My fondest memories are her coming over, firing up the turntable and dancing to Van Halen as I sat there on my couch thinking baaaaad thoughts! Molly Barrons was her name! What a piece!
    I am getting all misty-eyed!

First time was when my brother borrowed 1984 from his friend. Musta have been late 80s or early 90s. I didn't understand what was so good about it. Then some years later I saw back to the future, saw the van halen reference and thought about it for a few more years. Then saw BTTF again. Next time I went to a record store I bought 5150, heard it thru once. The following week I bought best of and FUCK. Needless to say, I was hooked..
Actually, 5150 was the first cd that I ever bought. Wasn't in to music before that. That's the only thing that I regret about my life (so far)..

Sent my sister to the record store with ten bucks where they had a big sale on selected albums were 4.99 ea. Can't remember the two I had asked for, but they were sold out of both. She came home and said, "they were sold out so I got ya this new release one at reg price for $10.00. I was so pissed she spent my whole ten bucks on one album and not even one of the two I had asked for. She gave it to me and I looked at the cover with my jaw hangin a bit!

Wore that copy out and had to get another......i have all VH on vinyl, cassette and cd.

I remember the Jump video getting played everyday on Much Music when it first came out. That is my earliest VH memory, it was my favorite song too.

    Default billy bien

i was in seventh grade and there was this burnout 1 year older than me named billy bien. Dude had all of the coolest music and he hooked me up with the first album. "You guys are still listening to Kiss - you need to check this shit out!" I remeber thinking that they did the entire album with massive overdubs cuz nobody could outplay Jimmy Page - Right? I've been corrupted eversince.

    Default Jesus H Christ

What? 1982? 1984? 198.................Christ! Saw these guys in 77 on the strip. No I wasn't raped by DLR, but I offered to bare MA's child........then I shit my pants, and the alchohol fell out of my mouth during an in depth conversation with AVH..........It was magic......bought the first album (vinyl) for all of you late "cummers"...............fuckin "a"...........on day one of release. Signed by the band on day 8 after release. My most prized possession! And dutifully mounted behind glass in my basement bar room...........whore. I release my sphincter to the world!

I first discovered Van Halen a couple of years ago when i was arguing with a good buddy of mine (known here as 'Casemeister')...
I was saying how the intro to the KISS song 'No No No' was unreal, and he kept debating that Eruption by Van Halen was better. Having not heard of the band, i borrowed my Aunt's Best Of Vol. 1 and listened to it to prove him wrong... And then i was hooked...
(Although i still think Bruce Kulick's intro to 'No No No' is better)
Frank Sinatra: Why do you drink so much?
Dean Martin: I drink to forget.
    Frank: To forget what?
Dean: I don't know... I forgot that long time ago
