Whoever bought it.. what do you guys think? I picked up a copy this morning.. I still don't buy the "Sammy's voice sucks" argument.. HE SOUNDS GREAT ON THE ALBUM.

IMO.. it's better than Red Voodoo, and again, I'm glad at least Sammy's putting out music!

Damn it VH.. let's go! The wait is killing us.

    BTW.. Sammy's wife, WOW!

Ten 13 is Hagar's BEST album since Marching To Mars. Maybe even a bit BETTER than MTM IMHO...

I bought it at lunch today like a good obsessed fan

    Here's my review:

Shaka Doobie (The Limit): Although it does get somewhat tiring how often Hagar has weed references in his songs, this number REALLY ROCKS!!! It's a kick ass way to start off an album

Let Sally Drive: This song ROCKS as well, coming off Shaka Doobie into this song is intense. A great rocker and it's subject matter reminds me of I Can't Drive 55 PART 2
I really think this is a great song

Serious Ju Ju: An okay song. Good sound to it, but not one of my favorites on here. It's not bad though...

The Message: I really liked this one. It's kind of in between a rocker and a ballad.
Reminds me of Right Now PART 2

Deeper Kind Of Love: I like this one as well, though the lyrics are a bit throwaway...The melody makes up for the lacking lyrics...

Little Bit More: It wouldn't be a Sammy record without at least ONE cheese ballad. Though I actually like this tune. It's pretty well done and unlike Gary Cherone on VH 3, at least Hagar's ballads have melody and a hook.

Ten 13: Perhaps my least favorite song on the record. I don't care for it. Sammy singing happy birthday to himself...Thumbs down on this track. And to add insult to it, he actually has the nerve to incorporate melody from the Beatles song "Birthday" very obviously I might add. Don't care for the title track

Protection: A great rocker. I like this one. One of Hagar's best rockers ever IMO
This one sounds like it could have been on Balance

3 In The Middle: THIS ONE IS THE BEST. This is the best song on the record and totally ROCKS. I love this one. Two thumbs up!!!

The Real Deal: Sammy trying to be a blues singer. With all due respect Sam, leave that to David Lee Roth. He has the blues voice to pull this off, you don't

Tropic Of Capricorn: My SECOND favorite song on the record! This is hands down the catchies song on the record. Some people have already compared it to Take Me Back off Balance...So be it. I personally think this is a better song that Take Me Back. It just makes ya feel great when you listen to it. Thumbs UP on this track

Then the album ends with some ukelele playing and Sam taking a bong hit.. whatever..

Bottom line though: This album ROCKS!!!

    I give it a 9 on a 10 scale

I bought the album this afternoon, its really good. Better than Red Voodoo. I think the best songs on the album are: 3 In the middle, tropic of capricorn, and serious ju ju. Fans must check it out, it really Rocks!!

Well I downloaded 5 songs off napster and they all suck so I saved myself money.
    I recommend doing the same.

    Tropic of Cap. SUCKS
    Serious DU DU sucks also.
Reading your review I think you said more bad on the album but good. Sammy sucked on NFL but hey we all know he has a great voice, its his song writing thats in question here.
He has been reusing the same material for a while now.

Here is my take on the album -
Sammy praising himself and wanting a national holiday. Come on Happy BD to himself and Ten 13 - do we all care what his birthday is?
I think Sammy is starting to think he is something he is not. I ever heard him say " I am bigger now that I ever was with VH".
I mean come one but I think his head will explode soon if he keeps patting himself on his back. SAMMY COME BACK FROM MARS BROTHA.

Ten/13 is incredible!!! I never thought the Waborita's were that great of a band, I was wrong.

Tropic Of Capricorn, Serious Ju-Ju, Shaka Doobie and Deeper Kind Of Love are my favorites.

I think every song on this album is great, IMO it is his best solo album ever by far!

This topic probably belongs in Songs/Albums, but I will leave it in Main for the next few days.

I also picked up 1013 today too at Best Buy for 11.99. Those fuckers were SUPPOSED to have a bonus CD with it, containing 2 unreleased songs, but what the fuck, they 'cant find it'. Oh well, it fuckin rocks, and Im more of a Dave fan than Sammy fan, but the Message. WOW!!!! Awesome shit. Is "Balance" anything like this?

    Chroma

BTW- TK says theres gonna be new Dave music this week. Maybe its Dave singing a chapter of Crazy in the Heat, hell, it probably is, knowing TKs track record.

Surprise, surprise...I have to give ten13 two enthusiastic thumbs up! I heard him do a few songs off of it when I saw him in St. Louis and wow! He had said it was his hardest since Standing Hampton and I believe it. I usually don't like a new cd this fast...even if I'm a big fan of the band/artist that put it out but I instantly loved this one. I can't wait to see the tour behind it.

About the only thing I don't like on Ten13 is the fact that Real Deal sounds a bit forced - whether it be the music or Sammy's vocals on it.

The lyrics to Ten13 kind of limit it, but the music in the background is pretty good.

Tropic of Capricorn is probably my personal fav, followed by Little Bit More and Let Sally Drive.

It's definitely in the same vein as M2M - a very solid performance in which most of the detractors probably never liked Sammy anyway.
