    Default Vivian Campbell

I just wanted to see if there were any other Vivian Campbell fans here.

While Vivians tone and style are nowhere near what Eddie had or plays, he is still probably my favorite guiarist.

I loved him in the Dio Days, the guiars he had were aweosme looking!

I fond that I can play more of Vivans stuff than I can of Eddie, but none the less I think he was a great guitarist.

Viv kicks! He used to fucking SHRED when he was in Dio! I can't help but think he's "under-used" in Def Leppard...

i agree the vivian was a hell of a guitar player...my favorite recording of his is the live version of "king of rock and roll" on sacred heart..

I have a copy of A Special From The Spectrum, and watch it almost daily

I was at that show and I can tell you that a lot of stuff didn't make it ot the video for some reason. He absolutly rips on The Mob Rules on that video!

I have a few different bootlegs of him doing Man on the Silver Mountain, and I have to say that is my favorite Song, that he does.

As far as a favorite from the albums, or a studio song, I can't pick one, But Evil Eyes, Don't talk To Strangers and Mystery come to mind.

His playing in "Invisible" from HolyDiver is just too cool. I've always admired VC and wish we could hear more of him.

i met him in 2002 and talked with him.
i asked him, if the DIO days made more fun than the Def Leppard days.
he said, that he has much more fun playing with Def Leppard than with DIO.
DIO is a person with whom is hard to work.

i personally like his style of playing, and he is a very kind person.
    and he signed my guitar.

Hell yeah, I bought the other copy!

Very good trio....I've been looking for that CD forever.

Vivian Campbell's work with Dio was as good as anything that came out of the 80's, IMO. The sad part of it is, as much as I appreciate RJD, he had nothing good to say about Vivian after he left. Said he only played one string or something.

But that's another story. Riverdogs was great!

I ordered Riverdogs yesterday because of this thread. I hope it's as good as you say dude. I loved Viv's work in Dio, and he's great live with Def Leppard. I don't like that they rely so much on Phil's writing, and don't let Viv get a bigger piece of the pie. Maybe if they did we wouldn't end up with sappy bullshit.

Oh, so now I'm under pressure.

Well, I had it on cassette and haven't heard it in umpteen years, so if it doesn't hold up, I plead youthful exuberance!!!

I think you'll dig it. It's more vocal-songwriter type stuff, not exactly shred city, but yeah, I thought it was pretty good stuff. I've got a hook going through my head right now and can't remember the name of the song....now I have to find this CD and order it myself.

    Thanks a lot, Sucka.
