Default SAMMY HAGAR Says He Is 'Sure' There Will Be Another VAN HALEN Tour

I didn't see this posted yet so i thought i'd post it. Sounds pretty promising.

VAN HALEN frontman Sammy Hagar spoke to Doug Podell of Detroit's WRIF 101.1 FM earlier this month about the speculation that VAN HALEN may be finished as a band now that the group have completed their North American tour. Asked to comment on the band's current status in light of the recent reports that Sammy is embarking on a solo tour, Hagar said, "There's really not much to say except, you know, we did it — we did the big tour last year. I don't wanna just do that every year. I mean, I love my band, I love what I do solo, too, and I don't get that in VAN HALEN. VAN HALEN is one thing, and what I do solo is another, and it's two different things, and I couldn't just say I'm only gonna do one. If there's ever a possibility for another VAN HALEN tour, I'd be interested down the road or something, but right now, we just did it and rather than do that again, I wanna go out and play 'Mas Tequila' and 'One Way to Rock'. It's really funny — as an artist, I've had so many songs that I've written and done, made records… you can't just leave that alone. So last year, the WABORITAS, we went down and played Cabo for New Year's Eve, we played three nights, and we had so much fun, we came back and we started rehearsing. I said, 'No, let's put together a whole different show [to the one] we did last year,' and I just got… count 'em here, about 300 songs that I've recorded and written solo that I need to… I just need to play 'em. And my band loves to go out and tour. So we're doing the WABOS this year.

"I'm sure we'll do [another VAN HALEN tour] again sometime. The first 11 years I was in VAN HALEN, it was like no solo stuff — it was pure VAN HALEN — but after going out with my band for seven years, I got really used to it and it got good to me, so I couldn't ever do just one or the other type of thing. You know what I mean?! It would be like… If everybody could stay happy, then we could do it. But I mean, it was great. The VAN HALEN tour was fanstastic. Some of the highlights of that tour were certainly in the Detroit area — those shows were on fire, Joe Louis arena. Those were some of the best shows we did."

Sounds like pretty much what we've thought. Sam will do his solo thing and occasionally VH when everyone is ready, IF everyone's ready.
Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.
Michael did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

A: Eddie Van Halen hands down he threatened all the stage hands that if we wernt all pushed to the side when he got off stage that he would "bash our faces in"

Now the new David-Lee-Roth-Van Halen album, “Tokyo Dome In Concert,” is available for purchase, and it’s super, super, super, super, super, super, crazy bad. - Doug Elfman

If accurate, and we all know how Van Halen band members keep their facts straight, this does not bode well for an Aerosmith / Van Halen tour in the fall.

Not to mention Van Halen's definition of "soon" is about 5-6 years

Now seriously, I think it's good Sammy is at least straight and honest. I love his solo stuff, the post-VH even more than pre-VH, and I'm sure as hell there will be like 3 more new records from Red Rocker before we hear another single from Van Halen. Plus they'll probaly be better anyway. It is really funny how Sam turned to be more heavy artist than Van Halen, sometimes it seems to me he took the magic of the Balance with himself when he left the band. Should songs like Message, Protection or Karma Wheel have been done with brothers, Van Halen wouldn't have been in such state as it is now.

After Balance? Yes. Even me bein' a VH3 fan, the tunes on that album would've been BY FAR better have Sammy contributed to them.

Edited: ^ Let Sally Drive - imagine Eddie rippin' on that one

And what about the Van Halen fans Sammy? We are supposed to sit here and wait until you feel like a change and run out to buy tickets for another greatest hits tour after another 5 years of silence?

    This is a crock.

    Ugh

This is not really good news.

I absolutely hate Sammy's solo material. Dont get me wrong i think he's a great singer but his music in his solo band sounds like generic rock songs.

So i guess its "5150" time every now and then.
What do you mean i dont believe in god?

I agree...Sammy acts like he's been coming up with some of the greatest stuff in years. After OU812, Sammy's lyrical contribution became comical and his melody contribution rehashed. I wish VH would just move the fuck on and release what they want.

Doubtful that it's Sam holding up the Van Halen process. A certain guitarist is likely the primary culprit.

Sure, that's why Balance sucks lyrics/melody-wise compared to Ou812
