Also, check this out from their site: They are basically saying that VH is over! Is this just BS, or do they know something we don't??

Now it's finally official - our third headliner is none other than the legendary Red Rocker SAMMY HAGAR!

Sammy Hagar, who fronted the now sadly defunct Van Halen, makes an exclusive appearance at Sweden Rock with his band The Wabos. In fact it's his only gig in Europe! He has also promised a highly spectacular show - the full monty? so to speak.
The band behind Sammy Hagar is guitarist Victor Johnson, bass player Mona and drummer David Lauser

Sammy made his debut already in 1973 with legendary hard rockers Montrose (who could be seen at last year's Sweden Rock). He recorded two albums with the band before he decided to go solo. The solo debut "Nine On A Ten Scale" was released in 1976 and was later followed by "Musical Chairs", "Red", "Street Machine" and "Danger Zone". In the early eighties his song "Heavy Metal" was found on the soundtrack for the movie with the same title and he had a hit with the song "There's Only One Way To Rock" from the album "Standing Hampton". The follow-up "Three Lock Box" became his biggest US-hit up to date and the successor "VOA" featured the hit "I Can't Drive 55".

In 1984 he took a pause in his solo work and recorded the album "Through The Fire" with the all-star project H.S.A.S, also featuring Journey-guitarist Neal Schon. The year after he replaced charismatic singer David Lee Roth in Van Halen, and the classic album "5150" was recorded (with a second place on the Swedish chart). The band had a massive hit with "Why Can't This Be Love". Since his solo deal wasn't finished Sammy recorded the album "I Never Said Goodbye" in 1987 and the year after Van Halen's "OU812" was released and later followed by "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" or "F.U.C.K". The last studio album Sammy recorded with the Van Halen-brothers was "Balance" 1995. He then returned to his solo career and released the self-financed "Marching To March". On the album there's actually a full reunion of the original Montrose. The next album was "Red Voodoo" 1999, followed by "Ten 13" (Sammy's birthday" 2000, "Not For Sale" 2002 and the live album "Live Hallelujah" 2003, which together with the live DVD "Long Road To Cabo" can give you a taster of what to expect at Sweden Rock! You'll find classics like "One Way To Rock", "Why Can't This Be Love", "Rock Candy", "I Can't Drive 55" and of course "Heavy Metal".

The spectacular Van Halen re-union unfortunately folded after only some short touring and Sammy now rocks on his own. His show is said to be quite stunning, so prepare your tequila throat, vocal chords and eyeballs, coz this show will rock!!!

they don't know anything that we don't. Yes they are wording it like its over but it is true that Sammy is out on his own again touring. That doesn't mean its over with him in VH.

    Sigh......

Folks, I could put up a Geocities site today and proclaim that the Beatles are gearing up for a summer tour. Doesn't make it true.

You're missing the point Low Life - this isn't just some kid setting up a geocities site saying it. The sweden Rock festival is a big deal and a proper company with PR etc - they don't just throw things out there for the hell of it. True they could be drumming up the whole this to try and make Sammy's appearance there seem all the more special, but you have to remember these guys have booked Sammy which means they have direct contact with Sammy's people, which means there is the possibility that they know more than any of us....

Just thought u all might be interested. Next time I come across something I won't bother...

Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.
Michael did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

A: Eddie Van Halen hands down he threatened all the stage hands that if we wernt all pushed to the side when he got off stage that he would "bash our faces in"

Now the new David-Lee-Roth-Van Halen album, “Tokyo Dome In Concert,” is available for purchase, and it’s super, super, super, super, super, super, crazy bad. - Doug Elfman

Here in the U.K. in the late 70s/early 80s Sammy was very popular with Rock fans and the Rock media over here. I think 'I've Done Everything For You' is probably his highest charting solo single here. He used to tour here regularly back then, It was only when he joined Van Halen that he started ignoring us!!!! Hmmm....

I guess he must be known in Sweden as it says he is headlining on the Friday night. Motley are headlining the Saturday.

Yeah no worries buddy, I understand. Ignore me, I'm not feeling well today, so I'm not in the best of moods. Cheers...

Is the same festival as the Rantarock (sp?) that Dave headlined in 1999, or was that in Finland?
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

They are indeed two different festivals. Rantarock is in Finland.

This really good news for Sammy fans in Scandinavia.

Sweden is only one hour flight away from Finland. I think I'll go. There are couple of my other favourite bands in the line up, like Dream Theater and Dio.
