A rock concert at the football stadium in Cleveland? That might be the first one since they built it.
Been awhile since I seen the Stones. If I can swing it I might have to go.

    Yessss...............

Scored pit seats in front of Keith. Never been this close to the Stones. Had to be done. The old geezers can't have much more time left. Me either, for that matter. Fuck it.

Which Stones' song borrowed liberally from the main riff of this one hit wonder from 1978?

"It's so lonely at the top because it's so crowded at the bottom" - Diamond David Lee Roth

"The truth sounds like hate to those who hate the truth" - Todd Wagner

"Women and Children First ... The REAL Van Halen III"

    SMU

Jay himself stole parts from KISS's Christine 16 when writing Thunder Island

Iím almost certain youíre implying Start Me Up....which was originally a Reggae tune from the Black and Blue sessions in 1975. In typical Stones fashion they ran through 20+ versions of the the song as a Reggae number. The version released on Tattoo You (when the Stones raised their vaults for an entire album) was the only rock version of the song they ran through, before they gave up on it altogether and shelved the song. Chris Kimsey discovered that version, which no one had any recollection of doing as a rock number. When Kimsey presented the song for consideration for Tattoo You they all only remembered the Reggae version.

Thunder Island wasnít released until almost 2 years after Start Me Up was recorded and shelved.

    Here a leaked Reggae version.

It appeared on a bootleg in 1978...hence the 1978 in the title

Pit seats! Congrats. I just can’t justify spending that much on one concert. I spent $1000 on my seat for the Desert Trip, but I got to see 6 legendary acts over three days in Palm Springs.

I was planning on going to Austin, but it’s going to be a Festival show. I was at their first Austin Show in 2005. The venue though is 100 acres surrounded by ranch land in the middle of nowhere just outside of Austin with zero shade.

I’ve seen quite a few shows at the Amphitheatre and initially thought that venue is way too small for the Stones. Turns out their going to construct a stage on the racecourse and charge through the nose for close seats. $1500 and up.

I’m headed to the Detroit show with friends.

Yep, they were playing SMU long before anyone else stole the riff lol.

That was Coulda's way of teasing Stones fans about potentially unoriginal material.

Let's not forget about Keef stealing the riff from Unchained for Brown Sugar.

    Well, there’s that.

The Stones are no angles as far as song thievery, not by any means.

I mean they initially tried to call Love In Vain (from Let It Bleed) a Jagger Richards comp.

Even though an almost identical version appeared in the 1936/37 recordings of Robert Johnson.

    That was actually all Mick!

Apparently, he wrote the riff, which surprised me.

Start me up/Thunder Island/ever KISS song, feature that 70's chord, though.

That little two part/add on, chordal riff, was a staple of so many huge 70's hits.

Even Dave Brewster did a vid on it:
Graver, Walking Ed, refugee from CVH & proud tone chaser...

saw a billboard for the show while driving through Tampa last night. I'm sure it's old hat for folks in Los Angeles and some other places, but seeing a billboard for a big time rock 'n roll band is still cool to me. Coolest may have been the billboard for Guns 'n Roses right out on the boulevard that runs past my subdivision a few years ago.
