    Default Top Jimmy

What a funky little odd rocker! I love this tune. It's like Taco Bell, the more you eat it, the more you want it...but if you don't listen to it for awhile, it doesn't stick at first.

I think it sounds very odd nestled between Panama and Drop Dead Legs...it almost sounds like it would have been more at home on Diver Down, no?

Compared to everything else on 1984, Top Jimmy isn't that good. Just the weakest song on a stellar album.

    I don't altogether agree. I don't think 1984 has a weak song on it.

This will sound kind of pompous, but my only problem with it is that it doesn't flow with the rest of the album, like I said, it sounds like it should be from Diver Down.

The rest of the album flows together...and while not a "concept" album, it almost is a concept album musically, if not lyrically...if that makes sense.

Well put. It's a great song but it doesn't fit overall. Would probably go better with the vibe on Diver Down, but I still love the song.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Sorry, "I'll Wait" has to be the weakest song on that album. Aside from the solo, I can't stand that song.

"Top Jimmy" though, is great. Great guitar parts, solo, vocal and lyrics.

I always thought "Top Jimmy" had the potential to be hit.
Bobby Cohn: Who's going to be at Waynestock?
Wayne Campbell: Um, uh...Aerosmith & Pearl Jam!
Garth Algar: Ha ha ha ha ho!
    Bobby: Who else?
    Garth: Uh, me...and...and Wayne...
    Wayne: ...and uh...VAN HALEN!!!
Garth: Wow. Van Halen. Who else?
    Bobby: Yeah, who else?
Wayne: Uh, an old man fashioning a kayak out of a log?

I don't care for this song that much. I mean its good and I don't skip it. Like you said, it just doesnt flow. I wouldn't list it in my top 50 Van Halen songs. Sad thing is I once made the list of my top 50 Van Halen songs. I do however like how the guitar sounds on this song. Its just I think melodies don't really work for me.

I think it's a really cool song, the OH JIMMY part at the end is hilarious! I heard that the man they based this song on, died a few years ago, too bad.

It is a pretty good song. I do like the flow from Panama to Top Jimmy to Drop Dead Legs.
