    Default VHIII Revisited

I thought that I would download III from iTunes and give it another try.

Can anyone tell me why all of the songs are there except Year to the day?? That is the one that I really wanted to download. I wonder why the VH camp did not release that song to iTunes?

"A Year To The Day" is probably the longest running tune on the CD. However, I do not know if this is why it is not on I-Tunes. Also, VH may of left one tune out so the consumer must purchase the CD to have the whole batch of tunes.

    I love this album.

I consider myself the biggest classic Van Halen fan in the world and I listen to a Van Halen album everyday (or at least i try to) and one of the biggest disapointments in my life is that I never got to see them with DLR at the helm. I saw them with Sammy on the F.U.C.K. tour when i was 11 and on the III tour when i was about 18. Back when I saw the III tour I wasn't that into the album. I was disappointed. But then something happened like a year and a half ago. I decided to give the album another shot and it finally hit me. This album fucking rocks. Plain and simple. Eddie went out on a limb and made some of his best music since 1984. The Sammy era for me just had a little too much cheese for my taste. Don't get me wrong, Van Halen with Sammy is still my favorite band in the world. But III is just adventurous. From Afar is such a hauntingly beautiful song. I always liked Cherone in Extreme and while his vocals aren't as crystal clear as in Extreme, he still does a damn good job. Eddie's playing on this record is just insane. I do miss the trademark Michael Anthony background vocals, but as far as the production goes, it's not as bad as supposed Van Halen fans out in cyberspace seem to think. I blame them for Eddie's hermit trip now. He tried something different and the fans just shit on him. But I find myself being just like them because I always say a silent prayer at night that maybe, just maybe David Lee Roth will come back one day, make an album with the boys, and rock our fucking socks off.

    Bottoms up!

p.s. don't even waste your time d/l III from kazaa. just buy the album! you can get it for like $0.79 at amazon.com.

Dirty Water Dog is the best song on VH 3 imo. I am moving this topic to Songs/Albums.

Eddie wasn't shit on for making III,he was shit on for what he did/allowed to happen with Sam and then with Dave all in a span of 4 months. You don't do that to your loyal fans and then announce that there will be a third singer/incarnation of Van Halen and expect it to be huge. I personally love III with the exception of 1 or 2 songs.

    I like Neworld/Without you/From Afar/Dirty Water Dog/Once"

    I'm take

    Fire In the Hole
    Without You
    Dirty Water Dog
    From Afar
    Year to the Day
    Neworld

And as strange as this sounds, I like One I Want. The lyrics are bad,
but the sound is good. These days, that's great depth for an album
when one or two songs is usally it.

I love this album with the exception of a couple of songs. I play this more than I do WACF.
Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.
Michael did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

Q: who was the biggest douche that you have worked with?

A: Eddie Van Halen hands down he threatened all the stage hands that if we wernt all pushed to the side when he got off stage that he would "bash our faces in"

Now the new David-Lee-Roth-Van Halen album, “Tokyo Dome In Concert,” is available for purchase, and it’s super, super, super, super, super, super, crazy bad. - Doug Elfman

    You're right.....doesn't matter who's singing, it's still VH material!

Baluchitherium off Balance is one good example of what VH can do without vocals!

    EVH plain and simple....KICKS A$$!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say III was their deepest and most complex album to date. The tunes i like the most are:

    New World/ without you
    From Afar
    Fire in the hole
    Dirty water dog
    Year to the day

Not a huge fan of Ballot.. but the intro into it and then the beginning of the tune is awesome.
