    Which guitar?

    I'm trying to decide here...
Peavey Wolfgang std (used) approx $1200-$1300 on ebay
    or
    Kramer "1984" (new) $700

Personally I like the look of the Wolfgang better, but if I get the Kramer, I can do a cool 5150 replica and have $500 to buy something else...

The Kramer has 1 pickup and 1 volume knob which makes me lean towards the Wolfgang, but then again, my gibson which has 2 pickups, 2 vol and 2 tone pretty much gets left on one setting most of the time.

Anyone have any comments comparing these 2 guitars? Both get good reviews online. Any comments on sound or versatility?

    Thanks....

What kind of sound you after????? or you just want a Kramer or Wolfgang because of EVH, the wolfgang is great for a metal sound, but thats about it. I wouldn't know about the kramers never tried 'em.

I'd say neither...get an EBMM Axis instead. They're a much higher quality instument IMO.

PleasureDome - Would be nice, but it seems like the USA specials go for $800-1000. If I was to go for a Wolfgang it would have to be a standard for a few hundred dollars more.

Joey - appreciate the offer, but if I were to get a Kramer it would be one of the new 1984, not an old one. http://www.musicyo.com/product_specs.asp?pf_id=984 Plus the idea of doing my own paintjob is really cool.

Riddick - the EVH sound of course! I'm partial to the older EVH sound - I really don't care about a metal sound - I've got my Les Paul Gothic guitar for that!

Homeunit - I never really considered the EBMM's because I don't like the way they look.

Everyone thanks for your opinions! Keep 'em coming.

I'd probably have to agree with homeunit, try an Axis. If you want to get an older type evh sound, the Wolfgang isn't gonna get that sound, Ed used lower output pick ups in the old days PAF etc etc, the Wolfgang has some hot pickups in them. The Axis has Tone Zone like pick up, smoother than the ruff sounding Wolfgang pickups.
