    Default CMT CrossRoads

I'm watching one of the coolest installments of CMT's CrossRoads right now. John Fogarty is on with Keith Urban right now.

If you guys want a guitar clinic, check it out. These two are on fuckin' fire.

Yes, that is a good one. I am a big fan of Crossroads. Most enjoyable for me were Lynyrd Skynyrd and Montgomery Gentry and the original Crossroads, I believe, was Kid Rock and Hank Jr. I love the melding of the genres.

Have not seen the Fogarty episode, yet this indeed is a remarkable program.

The show once featured Ryan Adams and Elton John, and it was mind blowing as the two traded songs. Still wish I had a copy, as the wife and I truly enjoyed the heck out of it!

The show also featured an episode w/ Wynnona Judd and the Wilson sisters (of Heart).

Yet another had (I'm sorry, as I simply can not place her name, ) the female artist who sang "Independence Day" along with with Pat Benatar and her axe slinging, co-writer and husband Neil Girrardo (sp).

Definetely a "must-see",as it's rare that tv gets this inspired.

I saw some of the show last night. I was impressed with the playing of Keith Urban. It's also nice to hear those old CCR songs again.

The Mellencamp/Kenny Chesney edition was really good, I thought.

Fogarty is one of my favorite players. One of America's greatest rock influences, if you were to axe me.

I like Keith Urban, I think he's a good singer and a really good guitarist, but his songs don't do a lot for me. I keep waiting for him to break off a really good song, and in the meantime, he just keeps selling records and girls keep screamin'....oh well.

I'm with you. I've seen him on TV a few times and they guy has got some great licks and a great voice. But his songs seem to be over produced Country pops. I'd like to hear what he's go to offer outside of the Nashville "grip"

Chefcraig mentioned Ryan Adams, I've seen a few live performances from this cat on the net....and he seems to be the real deal. Anyone have any suggestions where to start with this cat.
Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. There's just a small group of people who have strange allegiances and like to get into petty pissing contests that I can't believe everyone on this site isn't bored of. - Brett

I'm not a big fan of country music but I have caught a few episodes and enjoyed them, particularly the Benatar/McBride one.

I liked the Kenny Chesney/John Mellencamp show the most out of the ones I have seen.

If you want some rather "raw" stuff from Keith, check out "the Ranch" It was essentially a solo album, but packaged as a three piece band. There are 6-7 great songs on there.

On each of his CD's he has one track, kinda like EVH, nuthin but licks being laid down. The very first song on the show last night "walkin In The Country" was from the Ranch.

    From Billboard.com---

Veteran artists and collaborators Kenny Rogers and Lionel Richie will team up for an episode of "CMT Crossroads." To be staged in the coming weeks in front of an invited Nashville audience, the pairing will celebrate the 25th anniversary of their first collaboration and will be taped to air later this year on the cable country music channel.

The duo's inaugural project was Rogers' Richie-written and -produced recording of "Lady," which held the No. 1 post on Billboard's Hot 100 for six weeks in 1980. Over the next five years, Richie produced several Rogers tracks, including "I Don't Need You" and "Through the Years." They last worked together on 1986's "Hands on America."

Pairing like-minded artists from different genres, "CMT Crossroads" premiered a new episode last week John Fogerty and Keith Urban playing each others songs. The episode repeats tonight (Feb. 23) at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

I'd be willing to bet these would sell very well as DvDs witha 5.1 Surround Sound mix.

Two little hotties that can each hold their own and belt them out is Benatar and McBride.

I'd buy that one without hesitation
