The Sky Is Crying: Official SRV Thread

I don't know how we missed starting a Stevie Ray Vaughan thread, but here it finally is. He was simply one of the greatest guitarists of all-time. Before I used to just know his hits, but after buying most of his albums, there are so many more great songs. I just bought "Blues At Sunrise" recently and it's outstanding. Who knows how much more music we could've heard from him by now if he was still alive?

Yep that's pretty cool, red jumpy. I've got a question though. I can see Stevie in the cat picture thing, but who's the other guy? Out.

SRV once did a fuckin BLISTERING cover of "Superstition" by another famous Stevie, that being the great Stevie Wonder. That's who the other guy is.

    God Bless SRV

Well If nobody has since created a Stevie thread since the site went down I can only say that . . .

    "IT'S ABOUT TIME!"

I miss him and his sound. many try to replicate but none can recreate.

SRV is the only other guitar player that I regard as Eddie's equal when it comes to playing the guitar even though they played different styles of music. He was simply amazing. Whenever I watch one of his DVD's I find myself mesmorized like I am when I watch Eddie's solo on LWAN. The thing I love about Stevie though is the faces that he makes when he is playing. You know he is putting everything he has into his performance. If he wants to bend a note a little bit more he just makes that scowl and makes it happen. We can only wonder what we are missing by Stevie passing when he did, right when he was getting his life back on track.

Eric Johnson has a track on his "Venus Isle" CD called 'SRV' that just simply kicks. He replicates Stevie's tones perfectly, while still playing in his own unmistakeable style. Nice tribute from one Texas legend to another.

    Default The Crossroads

I picked up the Crossroads DvD a few weeks ago, I didn't catch that Fest but I can say that the DvD is worth the money.

Anyways for those that haven't yet seen it, the stage is decorated with a mural of guitars.
    All different kinds.
Kinda representing the variety found in the blues.
But on one entire side of the stage,
it has this huge SRV homage,
a picture of Steveie's well worn ax.

I thought that was reallly cool and a class act

Heheheh....that's cool. I guess I hid a little too much of his face. As long as the pic got your attention, that's all I can ask for. Seacrest Out.

    Default I wonder...

If Eddie ever met Stevie? I have never heard of it if they did, and Eddie has often criticized the Strat sound which of course was SRV's bread and butter. My two favorite guitar players, both are the best at what they did.
