    Default Best of Non-Album tracks

In this age of box sets, a lot of groups have let go of tracks that when you hear 'em on the box set you can't help but wonder "They didn't feel that that song was good enough for an album?" We all know that Van Halen has a treasure trove of unreleased gems that have yet to surface officially yet - what are some other songs from other bands that only got life as a b-side to a single or on a box set? (I was inspired by listening to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers' Playback which has one disk of b-sides and 2 disks of unreleased stuff - a lot of which is pretty damn good). Please try to stick to stuff that's been officially released

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - "Keeping Me Alive" (first heard a snippet of this song on the old video "A Bunch Of Videos And Some Other Stuff" and always wanted to hear the full song. One of my favourites)
U2 - "The Lady With The Spinning Head" ("One" single)
Genesis - "Feeding The Fire" (B-side of "Land Of Confusion")
The Police - "Friends" - (B-side of "Don't Stand So Close To Me")
Aerosmith - "Helter Skelter" (Pandora's Box)
The Cars - "Breakaway (B-side of "Why Can't I Have You")
Rolling Stones - "Think I'm Going Mad" (B-side of "She Was Hot")

Hell yeah, you got that right. Why "Hey Hey What Can I Do?" wasn't on Led Zeppelin III is beyond me. Also, if you want "Travelling Riverside Blues" on a CD but don't want to buy the box set, you can get it on the BBC Sessions double CD.

"Feeding the Fire" should have made it onto an album release, most definitely. Ever heard "On The Shoreline"? I believe it was the b-side of "No Son Of Mine". Fuckin brilliant song! I bought the cassette single specifically for that tune, and the tape was devoured by my hungry player around 1992.

Thank christ Napster came around in the late 90's!! Both tracks hold a place of honor in my playist.

"Friends" convinced me that Andy Summers is in need of some serious goddamned therapy.

    Default Best of Non-Album tracks

Right now I can think of the following:

    U2 - Spanish Eyes (b-side for I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For in 1987)

Bob Dylan - Blind Willie McTell (originally recorded for the album Infidels in 1983, but didn't show up until the Bootleg Series 1-3 box in 1991. One of Dylan's best songs ever, which says a lot...)

Jeff Buckley - What Will You Say (can be found on live-albums, but hasn't been released as a studio-version)
