    Default Collective Soul collectively Rocks

I love these guys. I really dig their lead singer's voice and the whole vibe of the music. They were good when they opened for VH in 1995 too.

Anyone know if they are putting out anything new anytime soon?

I keep forgetting to pick up that disc. Don't know if that's a good sign or not

Wish I could have seen that opener. We got Skid Row.

I absolutely LOVE this band! I have everything they have ever released and I never get sick of them. They have an amazing way of using hooks and riffs as rythems. Excellent lyric writing as well... Great rock band!

I caught them live a few months ago. A sold out club show in Harrisburg, PA. Decent show. Seemed to lack some of the lush arrangements that they have on their albums, but they're a tight band.

At one time or another, I've owned all their stuff and can't find a single tune I don't like. Ed Roland is a great writer of music and lyrics.

Theri latest album, Youth, is decent. Better than their last album. A song like Why Pt. 2 is just the bomb to me.

Riffs, hooks, great melodies.....a great band all around.

I know our webmaster here at the links hates CS, but there may up there on my list.
Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. There's just a small group of people who have strange allegiances and like to get into petty pissing contests that I can't believe everyone on this site isn't bored of. - Brett

I saw them on a warm up show for this tour, at the Roxy in LA on the sunset Strip. Single loudest show Ive ever been to, hands down.

So is the song "December" about what it seems on the surface, or is there some deeper meaning behind the lyric "turn your head now baby just spit me out"?

December, Christmas, Christ... All looks very religious to me...

    "December"

    Why drink the water
    from my hand?
Contagious as you think I am
    Just tilt my sun towards
    your domain.
    Your cup runneth over again.

    Don't scream about
    Don't think aloud
    Turn your head now baby
    Just spit me out
    Don't worry about
    Don't speak of doubt
    Turn your head now baby
    Just spit me out

Why follow me to higher ground?
Lost as you swear I am.
Don't throw away your basic needs,
    Ambiance and vanity.

December promise you gave unto me
    December whispers of treachery
December clouds are now covering me
December songs no longer I sing

I have all their stuff except for the Best Of disc & Youth. I haven't heard anything from the last album.

    They're not a bad band...
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

I've got all of their albums including their acoustic EP and their recent DVD with the Atlanta Youth Symphony Orchestra. I've been a fan since 1993 when "shine" was on the radio all the time and I didn't know who it was I just liked the song. That song, along with "river of dreams" by billy joel (also didn't know who it was at the time), were my favorite songs that year and I was only 8 years old at the time.

My first memories of rock music from when my parents were HUGE fans in the mid-'90s and used to crank that shit to 11 with me in the back, who was probably only four years old at the time. Collectiive Soul were my first rock experience, and I'll never forget that. I still love these guys and the music they put out.

My friend and I always picture their singer doing lead vocals on Motley Crue's "Generation Swine" album from 1997. Great vocalist, fronting a band who has never disappointed in a musical standpoint.

    Keep on rockin' Collective Soul!

I just started to get into this band a few months ago and I really dig their stuff. Just a good, solid hard rock band with killer riffs and amazing hooks. Right now, Gel is my favorite song followed closely by Shine. I remember hearing some of their stuff back in the 90's but I had no clue who it was until recently

BOISE STATE BRONCOS! - They're awesome. Deal with it!

11/16/04 - VAN HALEN in Boise, Idaho. Changed my life forever

8/8/06 - Sammy Hagar and the Wabos w/Michael Anthony in Boise, Idaho. Sam and Mike still kick ass
