Default For those about to rock...AC/DC

Can't believe they didn't have a thread yet!

    from www.billboard.com:

    AC/DC Polishes 'Family Jewels'

AC/DC has rounded up gems from its TV and live performance archives for the DVD "Family Jewels," due March 29 in North America via Epic. The double-disc set unearths the Australian rock combo's first TV appearance in its homeland in 1975 and runs through to music videos from early '90s favorites like "Thunderstruck" and "Moneytalks."

Disc one focuses on AC/DC's Bon Scott-led period from 1975-1980, featuring videos for "High Voltage," "Jailbreak," "Let There Be Rock," "Walk All Over You" and "If You Want Blood (You've Got It)," among others. Live versions of "Riff Raff," "Whole Lotta Rosie" and "Show Business" are also included, as are a host of small-screen appearances, among them a performance on Spanish television just 10 days before Scott died in 1980.

AC/DC's Brian Johnson-led era is chronicled on the second disc, beginning with videos for "Hells Bells," "What Do You Do for Money Honey," "Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution" and the title cut from the iconic 1980 album "Back in Black."

In addition are videos for "Who Made Who" and "You Shook Me All Night Long" stemming from the band's soundtrack to the 1986 Stephen King film "Maximum Overdrive," a live version of "For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)" taped in Detroit in 1983 and the DVD debut of videos for "Clipped" and "Fly on the Wall."

AC/DC has kept a low profile in the past 18 months while working on its next studio album. In the meantime, Epic has overseen a massive reissue campaign for the band's catalog, which the label says have shipped more than 3.5 million copies since 2003.

Here is the track list for "Family Jewels":

    Disc one:
"Baby Please Don't Go" (TV, 1975)
    "Show Business" (live, 1975)
    "High Voltage" (video, 1975)
"It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock'n'Roll)" (video, 1976)
    "T.N.T." (TV, 1976)
    "Jailbreak" (video, 1976)
"Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" (TV, 1976)
    "Dog Eat Dog" (TV, 1977)
"Let There Be Rock" (video, 1977)
    "Rock'n'Roll Damnation" (video, 1978)
    "Sin City" (TV, 1978)

Don't know if I'd want to own this, but I'd definitely be interested in seeing it one time!

What's up fellas? Well in my humble opinion, AC/DC fucking rocks. I don't know if you could even find any red-blooded american male below the age of 35 that doesn't agree with that statement. Last Friday night I saw an AC/DC tribute band (I was pleasently surprised when I found out they were playing, I was there to see the Atomic Punks!). It was with a chick singer too! She rocked it I must admit. Anyways, I'm making a mix CD of bands who either completely rip AC/DC off, or who are majorly influenced by them. So far I have:

    The Darkness - Black Schuck
Burning Brides - Heart Full of Black
    Silvertide - Ain't Coming Home
    Jet - Cold Hard Bitch
Young Heart Attack - Mouthful of Love
Rye Coalition - One Daughter Hotter Than One Thousand Suns
The Donnas - Take It Off
The Datsuns - Fink For The Man
    Buckcherry - Lit Up
    Fastway - After Midnight
Danko Jones - Hot Damn Woman
    Krokus - Raise Your Hands
Rhino Bucket - One Night Stand

Any additional suggestions would be awesome.

COOL! I'll be buying that mofo for disc 1 alone. High Voltage, Let There Be Rock, Sin City, Riff Raff, Whole Lotta Rosie . . . all those great tunes plus an unreleased track - Girls Got Rhyme.

I got to see ACDC on the "for those about to rock" tour in STL...It was one of the loudest concert I've ever seen (heard huh). at one point, Angus jumped on BJ's shoulders while he ran all around the main floor asles with Angus and his SG on his back, melting the PA with his piercing leads.
BTW...on Dirty Deeds BJ f*ck't up the lyrics and yelled "I forgot the F**kn words

Excellent! Nothing off the last two albums though.

Malcom Young still has a house here in Sydney & a couple of tours ago a mate of mine (whose band had connections through mutual management) got to go around & have tea & joints with Mal. Said he was really good bloke.

Another mate went to the same high school as the Young brothers (a few years after they were there) & says they have a huge picture of Angus in the school assembly hall.

    I fuckin' love AC/DC.

A mate at work met Angus through a mutual friend of his and said he practically shitted himself when he met him. I'll have to ask him about the story again.

I'm just about to start reading the biography on Bon Scott called "Highway To Hell".

    Also, Angus just turned 50!
Bobby Cohn: Who's going to be at Waynestock?
Wayne Campbell: Um, uh...Aerosmith & Pearl Jam!
Garth Algar: Ha ha ha ha ho!
    Bobby: Who else?
    Garth: Uh, me...and...and Wayne...
    Wayne: ...and uh...VAN HALEN!!!
Garth: Wow. Van Halen. Who else?
    Bobby: Yeah, who else?
Wayne: Uh, an old man fashioning a kayak out of a log?

Malcom owns a house in Balmain, Sydney. I was once having breakfast at a cafe called "Pelicans" in East Balmain in 1994 and Malcom and family walk in, take a seat and enjoy the breakfast there as well. On leaving I went over and said g'day and wished him all the best. He asked if I wanted an autograph and I said, "no mate, enjoy the breaky" Nice smile on his face, even bigger one on the wife! House he lives in is an old, sandstone 1800's house. HUGE fence and gates.

I was watching VH-1 Classic the other day and they hadone of their videos on filmed at Donington, wish I could remember the song. All I know is I sat there watching this and never realized, until my wife glanced to see what was on, how fucking tiny Angus is. If you were to stand that Gison upright, the damn thing is nearly as big as he is.

I met AC/DC back in 97, they are the most humble, fun-loving blokes/muthafuckas I have ever met backstage. BJ, Angus and Malcom are like Sammy in sooooo many ways. For them, it's all about the fans.

The look I got from Brian was priceless when he offered me a bottle of import beer and I told him that I was allergic to alcohol and had to decline. It was like I had stepped off a spaceship.

He still "made" me drink it. Three swigs later and my face, neck, chest and back were one big red rash. He started laughing and asked my wife if I could go on tour with them as a party trick called the Amazing Rash Boy. Angus was like...HOLY SHIT, his eyes were buggin out. You could just see Malcom thinking "lawsuit." Angus asked how I got rid of the rash and I told him to get me a Coke, chugged it down, 5 minutes later, GONE.

They were almost too polite to be rockers, I swear. As we were leaving to get a seat, I was the last one out, with my wife, and I told them that Back In Black was the first album I had ever bought, played it til it died and had subsequently gone through 3 CD copies, they were genuinely moved by that. Malcom is the quiet jokster in the group, when he heard that he said..."thanks for the Bentley."

I told them that I was too young, at the time, to appreciate Bon Scott. Brian got a little misty and said that to this day, most people don't appreciate Bon Scott, because he was such an enigma. Angus started laughing and said something like, "enigma Hell, he was fooking warped, that's why we looved 'im so fooking much."

As I departed, I thanked them for their generous time with the winners, the chance to be a party favor and the Coke (to drink people...sheesh) The station I worked at brought 10 people to the show for an exclusive meet & greet. As I was finishing shaking hands with them, Brian and Angus gave a hug to my wife and I. I was blown out of the water. Malcom said that they always do that to people they genuinely believe to be not just fans but friends of the band and that they don't give too many away. Sincereity means everything to those guys. I was just floored by that. Don't remember squat about the concert, other than it being REALLY loud
"Jesus, that fucker just crawled out of his hen house that was destroyed by the Alabama tornados. Fucking 280mph plus winds sucked the gleam off this bitch and passed it on to a bird in Rhoad Island." - Hurricane Halen 5/3/11 (about my birthday chicken from seenbad)

"Pete is this big, loud muthafucker with a big ass heart, y'all!!!!---------" - Hurricane Halen 9/27/13

Holy shit that looks like a killer package! (I agree, why can't VH do something like this? )

I'm more excited to hear of the new album.....which leads to the new TOUR!!!

They are one of the few bands I've never seen live.....but not for long

Back to that Disc set...I wonder why the Brian Johnson era videos stop at 1991??? They did a bunch more after that, I'm not complaining, just curious..... this set still looks killer!
