    Default Balance sound

I love Ed's sound on Balance. I'm playing a strat with a screamin demon stacked humbucker in the bridge through a crybaby and into a Peavey bandit 112 amp. ( redesigned model that came out in 2000). Anyone know of a good EQ setting that could put me in the ballpark. I know theres no fucking way I could get "the sound" because i'm not Ed but any ideas?

I still have a Studio Pro 112 that I play every now and then, maybe I can help.

Max out the gain and bass, run the treble eq at about 3 o'clock and the mid around 9 o'clock. I think your bandit has the 2 buttons in the middle of the control panel "gain and thrash", push both in if it does. Turn your reverb completely off, just to tighten up your sound. You may like to run your treble higher, I like to keep mine pretty low while using most solid state amps, it keeps some of the buzz away, at least to my ear's.

After all that your going to need some kind of external chorus. Something cheap like this should work:

I personally don't like to use a chorus with a heavy gain setting, but that's just me. I think Ed still used his Eventide as a chorus at this point, and his sound was really freak'n distorted. If you have a chorus, run it pretty low, don't let it take over the sound completely, just use it as a little added shine to your sound.

You probably already know this, but that's a Flanger during the beginning of "Don't Tell Me What Love Can Do", DOD has made more then a few of these over the years, something like that won't be hard to find, and it should be fairly inexpensive.

You may also want to do some research into a digital delay, something that you could run constantly. Alot of them suck all the coolness out of your sound, but there are a few that don't. Im hooked on this right now, I have a little delay working at all times, it really gives you more of a "pro-type" sound.
Plus Ed uses one a lot.

Well, hope this help's, if not im sure someone else will chime in with some input, there are some really knowledgeable people around here.

    es335.

Ok, my turn. I'd have to say my favorite tone in that era would be "Young Man's blues." Anyone heard that boot? That's some woman tone right there...

Seventh seal is by far the best tone IMO
