    Default Coverdale Comments on DLR

From the December 2004 issue of "Classic Rock" magazine:

"But Coverdale is very wary of the dangers of Whitesnake (and notably himself) becoming a cabaret act: 'Look at what happened to David Lee Roth. The last time I saw him, I couldn't even get up the courage to visit him backstage after the show. It was uncomfortable - and this was the man who used to own America!'"

Personally, I've always considered David Coverdale the U.K.'s answer to Diamond Dave.
"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

"This is a lttle prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen. ."

"I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately."

This coming from the poor man's Robert Plant.

I'm not sure you're helping Dave's case much.

I like Whitesnake, but there realy is nothing original about Coverdale. A good singer, but just because he isn't out there playing live anymore doesn't mean he should take pot shots at guys who do. What does he expect Dave to do, sit and home and play with the Triplets?

Well, I guess that isn't so bad!

Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Coverdale's still out there singing. Supposedly Whitesnake has an '05 US Tour in the works. Go to Whitesnake.com and read all about it.

    Hmm...

Coverdale = Barely a CD worth of greatest hits...

Roth = A fucking Box Set worth.

    End of story.
Q: Recording the album took so long your Australian tour last year was cancelled. What was it like in the studio? There's a history of tension between you and Eddie Van Halen...

DLR: It was like a stand off in a Chuck Norris movie. We each had the laser dot on everybody's forehead waiting for the other guy to blink. Except for Wolfie, he had a Super Soaker ...

People remember that psycho-slut Tawy Kittan rolling around on the hood of a car in his video as well.

    That's about it.

Coverdale was always nothing more than a first-rate Robert Plant knock-off. So much so that Plant used to go to parties in LA and London looking to confront Coverdildo mono-e-mono. Coverdale destroyed his band by arrogantly, arbitrarily firing guitarists as a gag (Vivian Compell said this I believe, correct me if I am wrong) and went nowhere beyond 1989. I really don't think you can say that about Roth, who added to the rock frontman/lead-singer genre' without parroting someone else's style. Cover'Plant should be happy people still remember he was in Whitsnake.

What do you guys think of the Steve Vai connection of both of these guys? Interesting how they both had him as a guitarist. They do have similar styles of singing and songwriting, but David LEE ROTH is WAY better in all regards than the other David.

P.S. I met Steve Vai this year at NAMM, and he was a MEAN DUDE! Check out my NAMM review at:

Coverdale's a great singer, and he's much more than just a Robert Plant wanna-be. Jack Russell holds that distinction.

He and Jimmy Page made great music together, and it wasn't merely a Led Zep knockoff project. Hell, I think Chris Robinson sounds more like Plant than Coverdale does.

I don't see where Roth and Coverdale have any similarities, vocally or lyrically.

It's all subjective, though. To each his own. Personally, I'll take "Slow and Easy" over "Tall Cool One" any day of the week.
