Sam still in ? I think its a good bet

I think the recent updates to the Van Halen web site, though subtle. speak volumes. For one, Sammy is still there, for two, there is new wallpaper with him included. I mean can you picture Ed and AL saying, "no way, Sammy is done, but here's some new wallpaper and pics of us all together" ?
    I think not.
Sammy is still very much a member of Van Halen. Hopefully they complete a new cd soon and we can all bask in the glory of VH once again.
heres to rock n rolls finest band ever.

I like your optimism. One thing I'm certain of - VH have never broken up, its all just a matter of time before we hear from them again.

I'll buy your reasoning....but here is the thing...am I the only one who is a little disappointed with the current arrangement, such as we think it is...?

I used to love VH first and foremost because of the music, but I also liked that they seemed like they were buds, had a chemistry, and enjoyed themselves...now, knowing what we know, it just doesn't seem the same...

Sure I enjoyed the shows this past summer and will enjoy future shows....and sure I'll be the first in line for the new CD, but some of the gloss is off...Given statements by all, except maybe Ed himself...it seems like they have a business arrangement...

I wouldn't say Sammy is in, unless things have recently changed. Sam himself said the reason they didn't tour worldwide is because he wouldn't do it without a contract. From what all current and ex members of the band have said it seems that the only true "members" of Van Halen are Ed and Al. For now Sam is the hired lead singer and Mike is the hired bass player. But I really do believe that Ed holds that this is now HIS band, not a band of four equals. It's Ed's way or the highway, I just don't know if Sam wants to deal with that long term. It wouldn't surprise me that whatever output we see from Van Halen in the future will be very sporadic at best. In the last ten years they have released roughly 20 new songs and toured twice, not exactly a herculean effort (but Sam has the bad work ethic, whatever Ed).

It'll never happen, awatts. I want it to, but it will never happen. Sammy is the only guy that's ever going to sing for Halen again if they continue on.

    a) They all hate Dave. They've given him more than one chance and they've just had an assful of him.
    b) They learned their lesson on trying to bring someone new into the fold with Cherone. A fourth singer is about as probable as a Beatles reunion with George and John.

Dream another dream, this dream is over.

    Guys - Be real.

If VH had Dave for a tour, it would be laughed outta town after two shows. Some things are best left to memory......Dave was awesome....THE man who turned being a frontman into an artform BUT - I saw him live last year and he is now a very pale imitation of his former self. It would not be the VH on your bootlegs, it would not be the Dave who help audiences captive and drawing so much adulation just by simply standing there.

I hope and prey that IF it happened, the chemistry would still be there - but I doubt it. They aren't young rebels any more. They are middle age men, with middle age worries who don't need the aggrevation.

Cherish the memories folks - I guarantee they are better than if they got together again.

Sam is really the only choice for VH at present.

Ed: Actually, the last record I bought was by a band called Brand X
Al: I make my living by viciously attacking something
    Mike: ...actually I don't drink.
    Sammy: Are these yours Eddie?

But according to Ed, it was only when he sobered up around '95 that he stopped letting himself be pushed around.

One might imagine that he's not asserting himself too much these days now that he's back into drinking in a big way.

The "REAL" Van Halen you speak died 20 years ago. Time to move on.

For some reason though I get a feeling at times that Eddie wants to work with Dave again, but Alex shoots that down. And when he is caught in a somewhat sober moment, thats when eddie realizes that Alex is right.

Right Now Dave would be the grave. Sorry but its true.
