That is how powerful the Beatles were to me as a kid. Now that I'm older and understand them more, its still great. Maybe even greater.

Yeah, there are other bands I like more, but I can't think of another group that still has the same reach as the Beatles. I see people my age who are borderline obsessed with them. Not many, but not an insignificant amount either.

I guess that's my weird reasoning for why I need to see Paul in concert haha.

Paul McCartney Announces Freshen Up Tour

Beatles great to debut ‘Egypt Station’ tracks live during four-date Canadian run

Paul McCartney has announced the first dates of his Freshen Up Tour, which begins with four concerts throughout Canada this September.

The trek, McCartney’s first opportunity to perform tracks from his upcoming new album Egypt Station, begins September 17th in Quebec City and then visits Montreal and Winnipeg before the current set of dates concludes September 30th in Edmonton, Alberta.

Each concert marks the first time in at least five years that McCartney has played the respective Canadian city.

“We’ve always had such a fantastic time playing shows in Canada. We can’t wait to return in September for what should be another special run of shows,” McCartney said in a statement. “We are looking forward to freshening up our show and playing some of our songs from the new album alongside those songs we know you like to hear. Get ready to rock Canada!”

In addition to the brief Freshen Up trek, McCartney is also among the headliners at this year’s Austin City Limits Festival in October. That two-weekend festival will be the only North American festival that McCartney plays in 2018, his website states.

Paul McCartney’s Freshen Up Tour Dates

September 17 – Quebec City, QC @ Videotron Centre
September 20 – Montreal, QC @ Bell Centre
September 28 – Winnipeg, MB @ Bell MTS Place
September 30 – Edmonton, AB @ Rogers Place

Finally, confirmation that the “Paul McCartney Archive Collection” is not over! Next up, in December, Wildlife and Red Rose Speedway. More ambitious with those two albums than I could’ve imagined. There is also going to be a combo of the two sets called Wings 1971-1973 which is going to include all the content of the two individual sets, plus a bonus “Wings Over Europe” disc of live cuts from ‘72 and an additional book. Wonder if the live disc will be able to be downloaded from iTunes as by my calculation, the big box is $100 more than the two individual boxes combined. Seems much for a CD and a book! Full details here:

Hopefully then within a year we get London Town and especially Back To The Egg

have my Wild Life and Red Rose Speedway deluxe sets ordered. Price actually dropped on Wild Life maybe a week ago so I ordered it, and then it dropped again this week, so I'm saving maybe $30 or so dollars from what was being posted all along. Had a 20% coupon come up for Barnes & Noble today so I put that on Red Rose Speedway. Not sure why it's not eligible for free shipping, and on top of that, looks like the $4.99 "shipping and processing" charge was taxed along with the album! So ended up being a little more than $20 less than what was posted.

Paul McCartney transforms a lovelorn piano ballad into a wandering, auto-tuned experiment on “Get Enough.” The track, which he co-wrote and produced with Zach Skelton and OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, arrives less than four months after his 17th solo album, Egypt Station.

“Get Enough” opens as a straightforward pop tune, with McCartney meditating on melancholy memories (“Do you remember the lights on the shore?”). But the arrangement and production gradually shift, weaving in acoustic guitars, grandiose chord changes, a barely audible spoken word passage and thick vocal processing that lands somewhere between Bon Iver and Kanye West.

McCartney played bass guitar, piano, acoustic guitar, harpsichord, synthesizer and synth-bass on the three-minute cut. Tedder is credited with programming and background vocals, and Skelton with editing and programming.

    17th solo album.

17th. Hey Edward Van Halen, did you hear that?
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

22 studio albums since 1978 if you include Wings, solo, The Firemen, et. al. Not to mention the classical compositions
