    Gibson 500t Bridge Humbucker.

Ok, can anyone here help me out... how does the 500t sound? would it be good for playing a wide variety of VH. Or if anyone uses one of these if they could just describe how these babies sound. I like a good crunch lol... I have a friend who's willing to sell me his 500t for an extremelly reasonable price and i want to stick it in my OLP mm1 to get rid of the shitty factory stock bridge pickup it came with. Any opinions would be much appreciated! thanks guys.

Default Great, maybe, but wrong size...

I would imagine that it would sound great. Very full, Very hot. Might be a bit bright going from a mahogany body (which it is voiced for) to basswood and a tremolo.

Pole pieces are likely to not line up, as the string spacing on Gibson and everything else are different. Thus, F-spaced Humbuckers. That said, I do not know if your OLP will be F spaced, but I assume it is.

    Over and out.
You know the best tone I ever had was with that little bandmaster cranked to 10. Edward Van Halen, 1980, Guitar Player Magazine.

I think all non historic gibsons are f-spaced these days...
And if not, it should work fine even if the pickup isnīt f- spaced, itīs more about looks.
I use regular spaced in my guitars, doesnīt line up with the polepieces but sounds great anyway.

Go play a Les Paul Studio. Most of them have a 500T in the bridge position. It's a pretty good sounding pickup. Reasonably flat frequency response, although the mids may be a bit more pronounced. Definately not mid-scooped. It will be a vast improvement over your stock OLP pickup though. I wouldn't worry too much about the pole spacing either, it just doesn't make that big a difference.

I have to respectfully disagree. It does make a difference.

Gibson makes good pickups. The 500T would not be a choice of mine for a VH type of tone. I have some guitars with the Gibson PAF Plus and they are better Gibson made pickups IMHO, but they don't sound like VH1 or 2 either. I actually use a SD Screamin' Demon Trembucker in my VH type guitar. I would like to try the Evenly Voiced Harmonics (EVH) Seymour pickup and se what that is all about.
