Default Pickup recommendations for 5150 replica...

I'm putting together a 5150 Kramer replica and was looking for some pickup recommendations. I used an ash body and maple neck. I was thinking of either the Seymour Duncan Custom Custom, EVH, or JB - anyone have any opinions or experience on these? Thanks!

I have a 84 kramer replica with the Seymour Duncan pickups\humbucker
and I get an almost perfect replication of edds sound.I would use the SD
    pickups.

Seymour Duncan all the way. Try the SH-5 Custom (not the TB-5). on close up pics of ed's 5150, you can see that not all the pole pieces are not lined up with the strings.

    lwk--

I've never knowingly played on a guitar with these pickups except the JB. I love that one, but if you are doing a replica, why not just spring for the one Eddie had made: the Evenly Voiced Harmonics (EVH model)? That's probably the one I'd choose for authenticity purposes.
How open-minded do I have to be before my brains start spilling out?

I'm to the point now, where I just reply, "...choose anything that DOESN'T have a harsh upper-mid spike....".

In other words, a JB would be exactly the WRONG type of pickup. Then again, I've heard great VH clips with a JB, so it really comes down to how people use their EQ pedals to dial-out upper mids, and "soften" the attack, if necessary.
