Default Once 6 minutes and 5 seconds in

Six minutes and Five seconds into the song 'Once' is the moment me and my good friend agreed Gary Cherone and Eddie Van Halen truly connected.

Listen to Once from the start and take note of when your CD hits the 6.10 point - if it does nothing for you then my heart goes out to you......if it has half the effect on you that it has on me then welcome to the gang! What a song and what an amazing, euphoric end to a song.

Any guitar pros know how I can get the tone Ed uses at the 6.10 point? I have a quilt top standard tobacco the same axe Ed used on the 3 tour....but I suspect he didnt use this on Once just cus he never seems to use the axe I hoped he would when recording songs I love!!!

Dude, I couldn't agree more. Once is a good example of a song that Ed is capable of, but should not have been labeled Van Halen. It is magical though. I get huge-ass goose bumps. Fucking haunting if you ask me...just plain awesome....awesome..

If you like that, try out Ed's work with Roger Waters on the Legend of 1600 soundtrack...Lost Boys Calling...I burned it a couple of years ago...came out in 99, I think...the guitar work is somewhat simplistic (I think, I don't play) but has that ONCE vibe...it is so damn beatiful, it brings me to tears....not that there's anything wrong with that!

Thanks Extreme Red Roth you totally threw me a bone there! I have started some dodgy threads in my time but I thought this one would do much better!

Anyway, glad I am not the only one that song really hits home to. I will deffo check out that stuff you recommended!

I'm not a III hater by any stretch, but I skip "Once" every time it comes on. I just can't get into it.

I know the part you're talking about, that's the best part of the song. I like the solo, too, it's cool. I learned that solo on guitar a couple years ago, but I haven't played along to it since I lost my VH3 CD a while back.
