    Default whats that thing...

    whats that switch on the back of the 5150 head which says gmp, and whats it do? any help would be appreciated greatly.

    Actually, sounds like it's the "GND" switch...you're talking about the one on back by the power cord, looks like your power and standby switch on the front, right? I'm not an electronics guru, but I would venture to say that it helps to offset the grounding of the power outlet you're plugged into if it has a bad ground? (Anyone here, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!)

    From the Peavey 5150 manual:

    GROUND SWITCH
    Three-position, rocker-type switch which, for most applications, should be operated in the center (zero) position. If hum or noise is noticed coming from the speaker enclosure(s) with the ground switch in the center position, place the ground switch to positive or negative (+ or -) to minimize hum.

    Should a hum/noise problem continue, consult your authorized Peavey dealer, the Peavey factory, or a qualified service technician. NOTE: The ground switch is not functional on 220/240 volt models.

    it doesnt go to eleven, so its prolly not important.

    I do have guitar nobs that go to eleven though...
