Default Azoff Music Management involved in Merger!

I read a small article (on p.8 I believe) of the latest billboard Magazine which stated that Azoff Music Management and another manager (the guy who manages Lenny Kravitz---i can't recall his name--sorry) are merging to form a management company called Frontline Inc. These guys ran the company together approx. 20 yrs ago before going separate ways and now have decided to give it a go again. Interestingly enough, when they list the names of the artists managed by Azoff they mention Christina Aguilera and The Eagles...no mention of Van Halen or Sammy Hagar! Anyone out there think VH was dropped because of the merger (i.e. too many artists on the roster to give VH enough attention)? Either way...that doesn't bode well for Van Halen or us die-hard fans?

Interesting information. Maybe VH signed a short contract only for the tour and greatest hits promotional activity.

That there is no VH on the news, doesn't mean Azoff is not their manager, if they are becoming a bigger company, then there is no point on letting go a succesful band.

Does it list EVERY act Azoff manages? Probably not so the fact they left off VH doesn't really mean much, esp since VH is not currently on Tour or promoting anything.

Default Maybe Azzoff will get Van Halen into the Latin Market!

Azoff And Assensi Will Focus On Latin Market
Irving Azoff and Alejandro Assensi have teamed to create AA Music Management, which will focus on building greater awareness for Latin artists in both the Spanish- and English-speaking markets. Assensi's clients include Luis Miguel while Azoff handles Christina Aguilera, who is currently recording a Spanish-language album. "I watched the Latin GRAMMYs," Azoff said. "I saw some great artists and I said, 'Why aren't these people bigger?"

    And your reasoning is?

We've been hearing "Van Halen is done..." nonsense since 1985 and 20 years later they're still kicking. And even if the band made an official statement to that effect, I still wouldn't believe them. There have been too many twists and turns and yet they still find a way to keep producing music and to keep touring.

A statement that's been made many times since 1985.

There was an earlier article about Hagar playing in Houston. They list Hagar as FORMER Van Halen singer.

Don't beleive all that you read.

I'm sure the article just lists the acts that people are most likely to be interested in - which sadly doesn't include Van Halen.

It doesn't mean that the band is over though. Even if Van Halen had decided to stop making new music and touring they would still need representation to see that their business affairs are still handled appropriately.

There's still the DVD to release and whatever else they wanna rehash.

So long as there is still money to be made off the VH name, they will always need management.

As i understood it, Azoff was brought into the picture by sammy to manage the tour, not the band.

Azoff's management company did a shitty job of promoting VH anyway. I hope that VH gets new management that will shove them down our throats at every turn.

Motley Crue has had better exposure than Vh did and it goes without saying that U2's management know how to keep them in the public eye as well as relevent and current in today's pop/rock scene.

I tend to think this was a case of "they got what they wanted"... They (Ed & Alex) didn't want a BIG, HUGE reunion-promo escapade, and that's what they got... Small, "safe", quiet unassuming, test the waters tour... PLUS - that other stuff (big promos) cost money...

He did a good enough job to convince ClearChannel to shell out some cash for the tour.

As far as shoving VH down our throats.....it's safe to say that VH has sold the majority of albums they will EVER sell....so to invest money into a band that has shot "their load" doesn't make sense from a business standpoint. We love VH, but Warner Brothers would much rather sink their cash and effort into a band that hasen't sold 10 records, but have the potential to be the next Van Halen.

Keep the product flowing, DVD's...Boxsets....it will sell enough to put cash in someone's pocket.
