This is a textbook example of how to put your competition out of business. EA sucks.

Well THAT pretty much sucks. Madden obviously does Madden football so this 'deal' means what? Bill Walton doing basketball? The ONLY plus of that is Gary Thorne doing hockey!

I think the ESPN personalities are not all that great anymore. These are just my observations:

Michael Irvin: He is annoying..you can practically see the coke straw hanging out of his nose from his pre-show toot!

Steve Young: boy what charisma HE has...NOT.(but a great QB)

Stuart Scott:ever since my wife pointed out his VERY lazy eye I can't look passsed it.

Tom Jackson: getting fatter and fatter and his lips are blue. Also he has got to stop wearing the same color tie, shirt AND suit EVERY show.

John Clayton: Need I say anything.

Chris Mortensen: His 'insider reports' more often than not don't pan out.

Chris Berman: I have a hard time dogging Berman...but the 'back, back, back' has gotta go at some point.

Dan Patrick: Definitely an ESPN Hall of Famer but ever since Killborn and Olbermann left...some of his magic did as well.

Suzy Kolber:Okay...she's a piece of ass and should have gotten the Monday Night sideline gig.

In a nutshell I'll take Rish Eisen on the NFL Network over them anytime.

Since Madden is signed with ESPN/ABC, it did create a bit of a dilemma for Madden to be on a EA game esp if ESPN continued to put out a game.

Maybe this year, ESPN decided not to persue it, but that could have changed in the future. Think about it: here is an ESPN employee working for your competitor.

Now that EA owns it all, its a moot point.

It especially sucks because there will be no NFL video game competition. ESPN put out a MUCH better game than Madden last year for the first time Madden was knocked off of the top. Well EA made sure that won't happen again.

LOL that was funny as heck. You left out Theisman and crew, and of course that beauty, Linda Cohn

At this point, I'd do Linda Cohn. And Shelly Smith, the strawberry blonde reporter you hardly ever see. But I like 'em a little big......

Anyway, back to topic.....what EA get is very little competition...they've got the NFL license, and now the biggest sports mouthpiece of all, ESPN the Hype.

I wonder what the potential is for a lawsuit on ground of monopolization? I guess Sega could hook up with Fox Sports and use imaginary players....

I bet we'll never see another Madden game going for $29....but at the same time, I still like Madden better. I didn't like 2k5, but I know I'm in the minority on that one.

Don't even get me started on Theismann! He and his Sunday Night cronies are so damn annoying and whiney! They make no sense at all and it gets even worse when they argue amongst themselves.
Theismann bugs me so much that I often like to visualize him wearing his single bar face masked helmet writhing on the ground in pain with his leg snapped through his sock!

As for Linda Cohn....jeeze she needs some help but I do give her credit...she obviously made it to the top with her knowlegde! She sure as hell didn't sleep or seduce her way there.

Probably because it was $30 cheaper.

The thing that sucks is that nobody is going to be pushing to make football games any better than they are. There'll be one company making one product, and that product isn't going to have much reason to improve.

Probably not. The graffix on Madden this past year took a step backwards whereas the ESPN game had the finest graffix yet for any football game. Either way,EA Sports has ended the competition.

You don't think the fact that the game was $30 cheaper had anything to do with it? Enlighten me. What do you think the motivation for cutting $30 off the price was?

Enlighten you? You are too funny! The price probably had much to do with it but when the ratings were released by all of the shows and mags, it was clear who the frontrunner was. So yes the price break helped..but either way it would have given Madden a run for its' money.

PS A little side note...EA dropped the price as well but it did very little to help their sales.
