    Default Your 1st Car

OK, we have the muscle car thread and your current ride thread, I thought we'd give this a try.

My first car was a 1970 four door Toyota Corona Deluxe, that I bought in 1979. My one year older brother, got a '67 fastback mustang, that my dad bought him for $800. Since he was always in trouble, and he reniged on the agreement that he would pay him $50 a month for half, my dad decided he wasn't making that mistake again and told me I had to pay for my own car up front, in full. So I saved $500 on my own, and when I turned sixteen and was ready to buy, my dad stepped in and made me buy that piece of crap of a car Corona. Oh yea, It was such a babe magnet too!

I was forced to get dates on good looks alone....

.............I spent many a lonely Saturday night at home.

1986 Chevy S-10 Pickup. Got it for free but spent $800 to get the dam thing fixed! Not exactly a babe magnet but the bed of the truck is just big enough for a matress

When I turned 16 my Grandparents bought me a 1975 Ford Courier pick up truck. Ohhh yes it was gutless and a lovely brown color that the chics really loved. I drove it for a few years through high school.

1990 Mercury Topaz, another babe magnet. It was a lovely metallic grey, just faded enough, like a fine wine. Had a monster four banger.

    Default 77 Chevy Monza

My dad works in a body shop right? And the guy also owns a wrecking yard. So my dad buys a 1977 Chevy Monza from him. Pays $200 for it and repaints it himself. Turns around and sells it to me for $600. Takes me to the bank and co-signs a $600 loan for me. He pockets the money and I start making payments. Did teach me a life lesson though.

Mine was white with red pinstripe.

Blue '82 Datsun B210 that was my mom's before she left California for Texas.

It was a babe magnet much in the way that we Halen fans would flock to a Britney Spears concert.

Driving a fuckin Gremlin would have gotten me more tail!

I didn't get my first car until after I was married. Didn't need one really, SNIC took me every where I needed to go! It was some old ugly Cavalier with a radio that hung outside the dash by a few wires.

Here's a pic of one like mine. I got rear ended in it one time, waiting to turn into school (a left turn) and an 80YO woman plowed into me doing about 60. Good reason to ditch school, but I still played in the football game that night, gotta keep them priorities

A 1973 Chevy Vega which my dad bought new for himself in the fall of '72, then gave to my brother in high school and then handed down to me when I got my license in 1986. It started off as pewter color with a black interior. My brother had it painted sky blue. When I got it, my dad and I tinted the windows and then I had it painted black. It was so evil looking that my friends referred to it as "Darth Vega." It was eventually donated to charity in 1990. About five years later I saw it again during a trip to Houston. It was beaten up but there was no doubt it was my old car. It was very strange to see it again...

    Good thread!

First set of wheels was a '71 VW Squareback. Surfmobile and party wagon extraordinaire. Blue and yellow KMET-sponsored Van Halen stickers all over the bumper. Probably why I got pulled over so much. Quintessential 80's southern Cal teenager car. Still remember that cranky bitch of a stick shift. Ya gotta love a car that if anything under the hood breaks down at all, you can fix it if you have a screwdriver and duct tape. Never left me stranded anywhere, but it sure as hell tried. Below is a '68...wish I had a pic of the original.

Mine was a dark blue '86 S-10 Blazer. It wasn't BAD, and it WAS what I wanted. But I only had that from July 1999- October 1999. Then my mom bought a '92 Explorer so I got her '88 Blazer, which was white and looked better. I had the '88 Blazer from October 1999- June 2004. I can't believe I had that thing that long.
