    Default "Miami Vice"

Saw on the "MacGuyver" thread that "Miami Vice" is going to start coming out on DVD in February - pretty cool - if there was one television show that I was going to buy on DVD it would probably be that. Never watched it when it was new, but used to watch it twice a day seven days a week on USA Network when I moved to Delaware in 1989. Loved the way they used the music and made a couple of tapes featuring only songs (including some of the Jan Hammer music) that was played during episodes.

Couple of questions for fans: Do you think they'll keep the music in the DVDs? How have they done it with other shows, such as "WKRP in Cincinnati" (that is on DVD, right?) where in syndication they replaced a lot of the crucial music with sound alike stuff? Did they restore the original music on the DVD or keep the replacement stuff?

Anybody that's a big fan know of an episode - must be late in the first season or maybe the second season, where I think a bad guy is sitting outside at a cafe and a waiter comes up to him and says something like "more tea sir" or something like that? Kind of an insignificant scene to remember, but if anyone would remember an insignificant scene, it would be someone here!

That's a good question on whether or not they'll keep the original music. Miami Vice, probably more than any other show in recent memory, centered a lot of shows around those musical montages. Not having the same songs will completely ruin the episodes IMO.

On the Quantum Leap Season 2 set all the original songs are replaced. Although they are few and far between, it just lessens the secenes that they appear in.

Billy the website www.tvshowsondvd.com can answer all those questions, they get pretty in depth in the reviews and extra's that will be availible on the dvd's.

I really like this show, I love the 80's rock music in it! I might buy the DVD set too.

I remember the one with Ted Nugent where he's sitting at a hotel poolside bar and the waiter brings him a drink and he says, "Definitely Miami". That was a cool episode!.

Actually I guess the line was something like "will that be all sir"?

I wonder if it's tool late to start a petition to stop the "Miami Vice" film from being made?

    Colin Farell as Crockett.....

    There's nothing right about that.

My favorite episode of Miami Vice, ironically, didn't even take place in Miami. It was in New York!

Gene Simmons and Penn Gillette turned up in that one as informants, and Jan Hammer's music in that was expectionally good.

Hey, I have a shiny black car now so when "In The Air Tonight" comes on while I'm driving at night, I can have a moment. Sure, it's a Malibu Maxx and I'm probably driving down University Boulevard instead of the streets of Miami, but it's a moment nonetheless!

I watched that espisode last week on my DVD! LOL! That is the first episode of season 2. I agree it's one of the best, it's better than a lot of movies I have seen.

Duct tape a video camera on the front fender and then post your recording on YouTube! It'll be a hit!!
