    Default guess whos an idiot...

it seems that everyonce in a while ill tend to leave my amp on standby because i have alot of stuff to do and sometimes it is just on standby for 4 or 5 hours. The next time this happens, what should i do. All the tubes still light up and stuff.

There should be no problem other than your tubes being heated for quite sometime. That's not really a problem, but just that your using your tube's life up not playing.

No harm. The tubes were probably cooler than had you been playing the amp. Actually, it is the cold-cycling of tubes that stresses them the most (on, off, on, off, on, off, etc etc etc).

    Default DON'T SWEAT IT

Dude ... I play 2 times a week minimum and average about 3-4 hours of standby a week. I haven't retubed in 1 1/2years. (Over 4 years on 1 amp that isn't used as much) As long as the tubes sound ok, you are ok. Standby is not that stressful on tubes. High volumes and long playing hours can put some stress on the tubes but don't sweat it. They are built for that, and standby is OK. The last time I had my amps retubed and biased it was about $125. (4 EL34's from a reasonable tech).
As usual, there is a great woman behind every idiot.
