Yeah, I had just turned two so I'm not going to pretend to know.

I know someone who will though...
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

I saw it when I was 5, and was hooked... Magical. Timeless. Exhilarating.
Kudos to Lucas for creating a galaxy of characters we cared about, and a saga/storyline we felt a part of, in a way.

And shame on him for later tarnishing certain aspects of that... IMO.

TLJ is on Netflix, so I decided to give it another go...turned it off. It really does suck.

Here is something Disney should keep in mind, my ten year old heard the opening scrawl music and hurriedly came into our living room...then saw it was TLJ, said "oh", and walked back out.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

A man's rights rests in three boxes: the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

I like the movie. I understand peoples criticisms of it; and everyone is allowed their opinion; and it'll be respected. This said - I don't get the hate of the notion that Luke would consider killing Ben, but doesn't; with people saying that Luke would NEVER do such a thing. Yet, in Jedi - he beat the snot out of Darth, and was about to kill him - and didn't.

There were parts in TLJ that didn't need to be there (Finn going to that weird planet to get Del Toro, which basically went nowhere). But I did like that they took risks in the movie.
Winners come and go; legends are forever.

That's part of his character progression though. He needs the final temptation to attack Vader out of anger to finally overcome it and become a true Jedi. That's why he throws his light saber to the side. He's not going to kill Vader and he's willing to sacrifice himself to make sure his father can be turned to the good side. He stands in triumph and defiantly tells the Emperor "I am a Jedi, like my father before me" and that he will never turn to the dark side.

Fast forward 30 years and he's somehow worse than when we left him. If that's how the story was going to go, his moment in ROTJ where he chops off Vader's hand--then looks at his own in shame--means nothing. He learned nothing from that encounter, apparently.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

I wonder if anyone ever told him what his father did to the younglings (or maybe I heard that part of Episode III wrong and Darth Anakin only killed off a bunch of Yuenglings)? Wonder if Luke would've been so gung-ho to save him if he'd known about that?

Just finished reading 'Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader'.
It's taken place right after 'Revenge of the Sith'.
Very good book!! Fills in some detail between Episodes III and IV.

That's exactly how my ten year old is. She was let down by TLJ. Me and her have gone to every SW movie together since TFA. After TLJ she come out saying she didn't like it. As in first words out of her mouth as we were leaving the theaters. Now maybe it's coincidence but when Solo came out I asked her if she wanted to go see it or The Incredible 2. She wanted the latter.

Both mom and her hated TLJ. So much for the Force being female.

Think of all of the pain, suffering, and death the galaxy experienced under Palpatine and Vader. What if all of that could be stopped by killing one person? What is you were the only one with the power and ability to kill that one person.

Luke saw all of that coming about again because of Ben Solo. Luke was the last Jedi. It was his duty to keep the dark side at bay. No one else had his power and ability. The fate of the galaxy was in his hands, so he considered doing the one thing that would ensure Ben Solo would never be another Vader. He sensed Vader could be turned. He always sensed the good in Vader. He doesn't sense that in Ben. It could have ended right there. He didn't do it.

Luke was a Jedi. He killed millions. Anakin was a Jedi. He killed billions, possibly. Maybe trillions. Ben was training to be a Jedi, and Luke could see a lot of death in his future. I see no problem with Luke seriously contemplating ending the life of the next Vader, or Palpatine. The fact he didn't do it proved he learned everything he needed.

Since Luke entered the fight he has killed millions. He has lost friends and loved ones. He was never trained to not have attachments. At some point, all of that shit would have to wear down on someone. How could ot not? And since all of the galaxy's turmoil he has experienced is the result of Force users running amok, it makes complete since to me that Luke ended up where he did in TLJ.

I must have missed one of the Star Wars, there’s one where Luke killed millions of people not involved in a war?

Luke killing anyone was always a last resort, killing in war is miles of separation from murder
One you are hailed a hero, the other criminal, seems pretty cut and dry to me
