    Black Crowes

Black Crowes Reforming For New York Run
    Source: Billboard.com

After months of speculation, Chris and Rich Robinson are reforming the Black Crowes for a five-night stand at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom. The March 22-23, 25-27 shows, the Crowes' first since Oct. 31, 2001, are the only ones booked at this stage of the reunion, according to group manager Pete Angelus.

"Regardless of the speculation, we are going to see how these shows at the Hammerstein evolve before giving any further consideration to additional shows," he says. Tickets will be available Jan. 25 via a presale on the band's official Web site and Feb. 5 via Ticketmaster.

The Robinsons have yet to announce which, if any, musicians will back them at the shows, which will feature support from the John Butler Trio (March 22), the Bees (March 23), the Soundtrack Of Our Lives (March 25), North Mississippi Allstars (March 26) and Ben Kweller (March 27).

Since the Crowes went on hiatus in early 2002, Chris has released two solo albums, while Rich issued his first last fall.

"I'd love to do it," Rich told Billboard.com in September about a possible reunion. "Chris and I are brothers and I love him. It would definitely be a cool, comfortable thing to do, but I'm proud of [the solo album] and I am glad I got to do it. Still, there's something familiar about [the Crowes]. I love those songs and the work we did together."

A Black Crowes Reunion looks better on the resume than "has been who married Goldie Hawns' daughter".

Judging by the luke-warm reaction to his solo career, I'd say this would be Chris Robinson's only viable option at this point.

I've been waiting on news of the Crowes reunion to drop. I check their website a couple of times a week. Just checked it yesterday, in fact. No changes or news. I'm really curious about the box set that was rumored to be in the works. They've got some great unreleased stuff that I would love to have an "official" copy of.

Such good news. These guys might be the most underrated rock band ever. Love the Crowes.

I bet Greg Rzab will be playing bass, since he didn't get the permanent Gov't Mule job. He's an outstanding bassist. Did I read somewhere that Johnny Colt passed away?

Agree. They were getting better with age too - Lions was a fantastic album.

Lions is a really good album. I can listen to the whole thing through no problem. I think it is their best album to. I really dig...Young-man-Crazy and LIcken.

I hope they play LA, I'd love to see them

Fantastic band live. Awesome sound and a very underated band. Many people think they are a Stones or Faces rip off but they play their own style and make great music. As one magazine once said, "they are the most rock and roll band in rock and roll." Please come to Oz.

This is great news, the Crowes are probably my second favorite band after VH. I really dug Rich Robinson's solo album, but you can't beat the Crowes. Now I am just hoping that Steve Gorman and Marc Ford will be involved (Marc Ford's probably a longshot since there are some very strained relations with he and Rich).

I think I'll pop in one of my old Crowes boots tonight to celebrate.

I love the Black Crowes. Lots of memories from the Shake Your Money Maker album. They better come to Texas or OKC.

Listened to Souther Harmony cd last night for the first time in probably 5 years. I really like that album from top to bottom. Saw them play on that tour and it was kind of intense, dark, and very druggy. Interesting to say the least!

I don't know much about Marc Ford, but I've heard he's had some serious drug issues. You should check him out on Gov't Mule's "Live with a Little Help" album, he sits in on "Cortez the Killer", even sings a verse. Sounded good, but that was six years ago (New Year's Eve '98/'99).

I better pick up a copy of that CD. It's the only one of their studio sets I don't have...
