That is the COMPLETE opposite of how I feel about Satch's music. Too many examples to cite, but Made of Tears from his new album floors me every time with the flood of emotions he pulls out of his instrument. He is the real deal!!

Anybody else pick up the new live DVD & CD? It's kickass as usual. A lot of new material, which is cool. Joe always delivers.

I went to the web site a few weeks back and saw nothing until you posted it. Right now I have no clue . Maybe bring back Stuuuuuuu Hamm. I know it is not G3. Your next guess is good as mine.

the most logical guess for me would be a new album but he has never made a fuss about a new album before. I dunno...would love to see him do a Santana type album with guest singers or players but i doubt it

I had the chance to do a meet and greet with Joe during G3 and someone asked him about Stu - doesn't sound like there is much of a chance of Stu rejoining any time soon, Joe made it sound like it was a clean, but permanent, break.

    from www.billboard.com:

Guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani will celebrate the 20th anniversary of his album "Surfing With the Alien" by performing a handful of club and theater dates in August. The concerts will coincide with an expanded reissue of the album, due Aug. 7 via Legacy Recordings/Epic.

Satriani will play four shows, starting Aug. 15 at the Blender Theatre at Gramercy in New York. From there, he will head to Chicago for a performance at the House of Blues (Aug. 16), before a gig at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles (Aug. 17). The stint will conclude the following day with an intimate concert at Hyde Street Studio in San Francisco, where "Surfing With the Alien" was recorded in 1987.

Tickets go on sale Sunday (July 15), exclusively through Satriani's Web site.

    Satch Touring Guitar Centers

I'm surprised this wasn't posted here earlier. Anyway, last night here in Phoenix, Joe was at the Guitar Center. I don't know how many people were eventually let in, but the line snaked around the building and was very long.

Satch played about 6 songs, talked alot about music theory, notes, inspiration, pitch and many more things above my head. Took 5 or so questions from the audience. Then he managed to sign autographs for 2+ hours. Very cool. He's got 4 more Guitar Centers left. Check it out if you can. Be prepared for long lines, but worth it in my opinion.

Picked up his new CD so I could have him sign it. Digging the new stuff!!

Well, Joe's back on tour in the States. Will be back here in Phoenix in November, so I know what I'm buying myself for my birthday present this year. Anyone else planning on seeing Satch this time around?

Without a doubt an amazing player. Hoping to catch either the Massey Hall, TO show or the Royal Oak, MI date.....either way, gotta see Joe this tour, have never heard him live before.....
