I've got too add that these guys, IMHO are the most important metal band since Facelift. I don't believe any other new bad of that time influenced more metal bands then Alice In Chains. From Staind to Creed, Nickleback, Godsmack, and on and on. Jerry and the gang wrote some of the greatest songs EVER. I Stay Away is a song I never get tired of. Some of my other favs are, Slude Factory, Frogs, Junkhead, Nutshell, and What The Hell Have I.

Alice in Chains fucking rocks! Man in the Box will be a standard forevah! (And it's great to fuck to!)

But I must say, I only listen to them. Which of the four in the picture was Layne Stanley?

You've got excellent tastes my dear. I also get sad thinkin about it to this day because Layne was/is my favorite singer and lyricist. It's ashame that he just couldn't shake the damn addiction after all those years. Once his girlfriend died it's like he just gave up all hope. Just ashame and a waste of talent IMO because there were so many more ppl whose lives he could have touched with his words. I miss that guy.

Damn, Sucka! After seeing all the "Official" insertbandnamehere "Thread"s that have popped up I shoulda known you'd beat me to this one. I loved those guys and never saw them live. I was supposed to see them with Metallica and Suicidal Tendencies in... '93 I think. Of course Layne was strung out and they had to cancel.
I know you've got tons of bootlegs of different bands but if you're short on AIC, there's probably 4 or 5 over at easytree.org. I got some of their unreleased demos and a few live shows. Alice in Chains was definitely one of the best. I really liked the 'supergroup' Mad Season as well.
My favorite tracks (at the moment): Shame In You, Again, Don't Follow, Fear The Voices, I Can't Remember... Okay so it's pretty much all of them. Fear The Voices is probably the top of my list right now though.
Have you guys heard their version of Suffragette City? It's pretty sweet.

Man, Fear The Voices is the shit man. I think I have Suffragette City upstairs somewhere. I've got all the cd's from AIC, all of Jerry's solo stuff, and Mad Season's cd and a live performance of them. Layne looked rail thin though, so I hardly watch that one. Don't like to see him like that.

Right now I've really been into Grind and What The Hell Have I. When I was really getting into them though, nothing could touch Junkhead. Layne wailin out, "Whats my drug of choice?" I mean, that's just hard hittin stuff man.

Same here, cept for some reason I couldn't stand Sickman for the longest. That tune is now one of my faves though. Rain When I Die is pretty killer too.

I saw Jerry Cantrell play last summer, he was pretty awesome.

I've been listening to a lot of AIC during the last few days. Great band, probably the best of the 90's. Nirvana got all the credit, but AIC was much better. Cantrell is an amazing songwriter and guitarist and Staley's vocals were awesome.

Props Sucka for starting this thread! I love these guys! The Sap EP is my favorite followed closely by Dirt. I missed these guys in '93 on the Metallica/Suicidal tour but did see them @ Lolapalooza. They played Santa Fe Dam which was hilarious to me (anyone who lives in Socal may see the humor in this as well). Too bad what happened to this band. A damn shame...
