However, Rick Beato kinda harped on the assumption that Jimmy Page places the mics...who ever thought that? He did never mention that Jimmy Page produces the album....now the question is was Jimmy’s producer credit because he had actually produced it, or was it an honorific and a means to get another cut of the cash?

Jimmy is 75 now. Is he going to get back into playing?

Here's a guy, a Buddy "Guy", that's 82 performing last year at Austin City Limits, with another show planned for March 28th of this year.

Honestly, I don't think so. PLEASE!!! Prove me wrong. Go!

The video about him and the new guitars doesn't directly answer the question, although it does hint that his fingers are capable. I think the fact that he's doing replica guitars tells me that while other bands are out earning $$ on the road, he prefers to sit back with a cup of tea and watch products sell. Good for him.

Glyn Johns, who knew Jimmy from high school, was the guy who brought him into the London music world inner circle in the first place. Glyn Johns supposedly had a lifelong ax to grind with Page for taking credit for the sound of LZ I when Johns said it was his doing. Later, younger brother Andy Johns had beefs about the credit he got on IV.

What I notice is the production is pretty elaborate from I-III, then turns into the sound of four guys in a room with some reverb and a couple of overdubs. I'm guessing Page later got distracted by his pharmaceutical habits and wasn't up for long sessions perfecting the sound.

Whoever was at the board, the albums were all spectacularly successful.

Possibly the coolest interview setup ever? Brian Johnson interviews Robert Plant on the lakeshore where Plant planted his sword in The Song Remains the Same.

I want to be Robert Plant when I grow up.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

At 14:30, to have a guy like Brian Johnson from a giant band like AC/DC telling you how he used to cover your music in bars and the people would go crazy, and how the "Immigrant Song" was like a call to arms...wow! And Brian is actually a year OLDER than Robert! (Steven Tyler is also a few months older than Robert!) Must be amazing to think you were an influence and beacon even to your own age group.

I know this is a LP thread, but the "Life on the road" episode with Nick Mason from Pink Floyd is worth watching too. There are a few things in it that I never knew before like that Nick had to put up one of his cars to finance the last PF tour... Its a great watch.. Its almost worth watching just to see Brian face when Nick takes him for a spin in that very same car... Priceless.
