    Default Lost classics

I was listening to Foreigner's first album tonight (technically still am) and was thinking, "this still sounds really good" (even though my copy is still vinyl). Foreigner did come out of the shoots pretty hot, but that was back in 1977, and by the end of the '80s they were an afterthought. Sure, you still hear a couple of the hits on the classic rock stations from time to time, but not much of a big deal is made of 'em.
So anyway, what are some other bands that had a big time, maybe even a couple of hits - maybe weren't pioneering or anything, just good music - but now they're pretty much forgotten except by the few faithful left that drag out those old albums from time to time?

I really liked Loverboy. Saw them in 1986 at the Texxas Jam. The headliner that night was none other than VH on their 5150 Tour.

The BoDeans were kinda like that...They made some solid records and then had the big hit 'Closer to Free.' Since then, not hearing much about them...

You should check out a CD by a one shot band called The Storm from 1992. It featured Rolie, Ross Valory, Steve Smith, and a guy doing a damned good impersonation of Steve Perry. We played it in the record store I worked at, and just about every customer thought we were playing a new Journey album.

I think you can pinpoint the demise of bands like Foreigner, Loverboy and to some extent Bryan Adams to the ballad - I mean, they all started as nice little rock 'n roll bands - nothing fancy - not gonna impress you with any guitar pyrotechnics, but just some nice rockin' music. Then all of a sudden they have a ballad as a hit and next thing you know is that they're all over M.O.R. radio (or lite rock or soft favourites or whatever it's called now) and the regular rock stations won't touch 'em anymore. And when M.O.R. got done with 'em, they were basically left out in the wilderness. Just my theory!
