It's good to know when to call it quits

I have always been a Van Halen fan. Greatest garage band on the planet! Without Eddie's contributions music would not be the same, but the band "Van Halen" is dead folks! If you want it to be the way it was, you have 2 choices.

    1) Invent a time machine
    2) Put on VH I, II, WACF, Fair Warning, Diver Down, or 1984

Otherwise, except and get over it!

This is not a Sammy vs. Dave thread - I love the Sammy albums, but it's not Van Halen.... Sorry. They should have just changed the name of the band in 1985. I think it would have been better that way.

Think about it a little, maybe it will make sense. I'm not bashing Sammy at all. I love all the albums etc. Just my way of making sense of all the bullshit over the years.

I agree with your assessment that it is not the Van Halen we came to love. They didn't 'mature and grow', IMHO, they changed. I liked Carnal Knowledge and Humans Being but the rest, IMHO, was probably on par with any cover VH band that would be forced into writing their own material. Their biggest Sam hit (arguably) was Right Now. That ain't gettin it for me. I liked Sam better solo. My expectations were lower and he hit the mark.

You can have all the musical talent in the world but without songs, you are just Yngwie Malmsteen (or Wingnut Valvestem, as I prefer to refer to him).

Yyyyyeah....well, I'm gonna have to kinda...disagree with ya there.

Anyway, have a right to your opinion and I'm damned sorry you feel that way. But are you gonna just keep posting the same sentiment over and over again? You've made your point clear at least three other times on other threads. We get the message.

It is two different bands, to me. Though, I couldn't have cared less if they would have changed their name or not.

Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

I'm glad they didn't change their name - saved me from having to mention two bands when someone asks, "What's your favorite band?"
    Nothing to see here.

Thank God they didn't change their name.I'm glad they kept at it.
The question is not, "Does love exist?"
But when she leaves, where she goes?
I got the feelin' she don't know either
Wait like the wind, watch where she blows

Been following this band from Oz since 1979. In my opinion I think they are two seperate bands, but to me they are always Van Halen no matter who was singing. Remember Gary! So I declare I am three bands and one fan!

Except for liking the F.U.C.K. and Humans Being efforts, I completely agree with you.
