Exactly my thoughts. Being an OCD collector I wasn't able to go see Time Stand Still at the theater with all the extras (and even if I had I'd still want them in my collection). I thought for sure they'd be released later on Rush's site or their youtube channel but nope, not yet.

I am going this year but to see stuff like Jacob's Ladder rehearsal footage etc. one night and then never have access to it again would suck. Importantly this is labeled as the "first annual" version of this, which is cool, but I hope they realize that down the line fans will want to have access to this stuff on disc or at least youtube. And for many hardcore fans it's just not practical that they can get to a theater showing it on one given night.

    Where are you?

This has got the locations so far, there's not one in my hometown (which isn't very big) but it lists showing locations by distance and there seems to be a ton of them.

Kind of depressing that retired bands do more than VH.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Rush has always been leagues beyond VH in terms of fan friendly options.

It's what it usually is....hour and twenty minute drive to Cleveland is the closest.

I don't think they viewed VH as any kind of competition. Like "damn... how can we beat those VH cats... what they do for their fans is second to none..."

That's a given. I don't think they viewed ANYONE as any kind of competition, much less VH.

I was simply saying that Rush has been a far more fan friendly band in terms of product, touring, media, communication, and all the rest of what normal bands often do.

Bands that are way down on the totem pole makes it even worse. I would guess every band of the last 50 years, good or bad, has released more stuff than VH has the past twenty years.

This has been jam the last few days.
Love this record. Time and Motion, Test For Echo, Driven, Totem...it's chock full of goodies.

Yeah, there are a ton of great riffs and catchy elements on that record. There are certainly many more of their albums I enjoy more but I remember thinking when it was new that it might recapture some of the older fans with some of the overt angular odd time signature stuff and lots of heavy guitar but it really didn't. It seems to be one of their least popular albums.

I think my perspective may be skewed some by the factors surrounding it. First, for a long time it really looked like it would end up as Rush's last album because of what happened to Neil not long after, so I think I just sort of treasured it for that reason. But also, the tour was ridiculous, even by their standards. It was the first Evening With 3 hour show tour and I saw it (counting both legs) a personal record 5 times. I still wasn't on the internet yet and was totally blind about the setlist going in and the first show I saw that tour, at the Alamodome, I practically wept when Alex started Discovery at the end of the first set and I realized they were going to play the whole 2112 (the only complete version they ever did on tour). Plus bringing back Natural Science and all the new songs I loved and tons of signature stuff with the added hour it was just heaven. I really thought that was going to be their farewell by design, and then it almost ended up being their farewell due to circumstance anyway.

I sure hope they eventually release the other half of the Toronto show (and I think they will unless there are remaining technical problems), it is stellar and contains a ton of the TFE stuff that was not on the Different Stages album. I think it's even more impressive to see them play some of those songs.

Lucky Dog! I missed that tour. Had to wait for the next one. Which was stellar as well. My show, anyway.

It's puzzling too me, snowdog. Like you said, it's full of catchy riffs and chorus'. Some great heavy riffs on their. Not sure why fans don't like it better. It did kinda go back to their old stuff, somewhat. It got lots of radio play, too.
And live those songs were even better! When I heard the Test For Echo stuff on Different Stages a few years later I was even more upset I missed that tour.

The band, itself, shied away on later tours as well. Once and awhile, Driven or Resist....that was about it.

I guess I was one of the fans TFE "hit", but I did love the previous records. They lost me a little with Hold Your Fire and Presto. Even though both have great tunes I love. But I thought Roll the Bones and Counterparts were great records.

Yeah, I've been hoping for a complete Toronto show, too. They were on fire that night.
