I've got a Mexican Stratocaster that the previous owner upgraded with DiMarzio noiseless single coils and a Super Distortion, but the tone knob doesn't affect the bridge pickup. On the new Mexican Strats, the Player series, they're back to letting the tone affect the bridge pickup again.

So Jedi is probably not missing anything by not having that second tone knob.
Yeah, not only was the bridge pick up without a tone control, but the dang selector switch was a 3 way, one position for each pick up. You actually had to file notches into the underside of the switch, to get the in between combinations!
5 ways weren't invented until like the '70s!

Phuckin' kids got it so easy nowadays, LOL!

And I agree, Jedi has got it down pat. (Nice work DR!)

I remember trying out a `52 Reissue Telecaster, and being stunned that when I switched to the neck pickup, it sounded like it was dead! The sales guy said, "That's how they came in 1952. The idea was you could fill in for a bass player. You had to do a modification to get any treble out of the neck pickup. They include a kit to do it." Guitars really hit their peak in the `90's-mid `00's in my book.

    Default My new Yamaha electric-acoustic

This is my latest and possibly greatest purchase: a Yamaha FX335c electric-acoustic. I've always been opposed to the idea of electric-acoustics. I thought guitars should be one thing or the other, and I hated the look of cutaways on an acoustic, too. However, playing these open mics, the Dean-Markley pickup inserted into the sound hole just wasn't cutting it. I also hate fiddling around with a mic for five minutes before I even get started. So I saw one of these on the wall at Guitar Center for $250 new and tried it out, and was amazed at how good it sounded. Then I bought this one off the Used section of Guitar Center's site: $159 including tax and shipping! And the wrap was still on the pickguard! Lightweight and plays like an electric!

Me and this new little friend have already had some great adventures, and I look forward to more!

Thanks, Robbie! When it comes to acoustics, I'm definitely a Yamaha enthusiast. I haven't picked up anything that played better, looked better, and it's unusual to find anything that sounds better. This is their absolute entry level electric-acoustic, and I'm loving going in where people have expensive Martins and Taylors, and I can get on stage and sound just as good (most electric-acoustics sound identical through the PA, to my ear) for less than 1/10 the cost!

Now I'm lusting for a model they have called an A1R. It's pretty much a knockoff of a Taylor 310ce. It's really cool, the binding is another layer of wood, and they come in a gorgeous Vintage Tint color. They're only about $500 brand new, but for now, I'll get some mileage out of this one.
