Default Keith Moon... any fans? (First new thread in here!)

I figured I'd get this forum started if nobody else would.

As a drummer, what does everyone think of Keith Moon? I got some electronic drums recently for demos, etc., and the more I drum, the more I dig Keith. Sure, he wasn't much of a technician, but when it comes to drummer who just flat-out ROCKED, it's hard to go past Keith Moon. I mean, for a while he didn't even have a hi-hat! THAT is rock 'n' roll!

    Anyone else dig him?

    Mate...great post
I was 7 years old and watching the tv when The Who came on.
I was transfixed by the drummer and from there I remember I asked my dad for drum lessons. He agreed and said he would buy me a kit if I lasted one year. I did and now 31 years later I am still playing, but on a better kit.

RIP Keith, you inspired me and created a Monster for my neighbours and students. (I am a teacher in Sydney)

Keith Moon....in my opinon....was the best drummer ever. There hasn't been anyone even comparable to his style and ability. As for a living kick-ass drummer, I'd have to say Neil Peart is the best around now....Al is no slouch either!!!

    Before Hydraulics,there was Keith Moon.
The question is not, "Does love exist?"
But when she leaves, where she goes?
I got the feelin' she don't know either
Wait like the wind, watch where she blows

I think Moony was the "Ed(ward) Van Halen of Drums". He would do some wild shit and end up right back on the 'one'. Furthermore, I don't think either would have had as much success had they been in bands with different people. Al is perfect complement to Ed, 'twhistle was perfect for Moon.
    Just my opinion...
