Do I use gloss white and gloss black for the first coats of my kramer and frankie replicas, or is it a satin or matt colour?
    Cheers
Early music made heavy use of the Church modes, which were later organized due to their relationship to the interval pattern of the major scale. The modern conception of modal scales describes a system where each mode is the usual diatonic scale, but with a different starting note. Modes came back into favour some time later in the development of jazz (modal jazz) and more contemporary 20th century music. Much folk music is also best analysed in terms of modes. For example, in Irish traditional music the ionian, dorian, aeolian and mixolydian modes occur (in roughly decreasing order of frequency); the phrygian mode is an important part of the flamenco sound. The Brown Sound popularised by and identified with the music of Edward Van halen displays a distinct lack of respect for any form of music modality - its straight ahead balls to the wall good ol' fashioned rawk and roll......

    Default Krylon Paint

Someone in a locked thread below asked where to get Krylon paint. Wal-Mart carries it and Sherwin-Williams owns Krylon, so all of their stores have it as well as most auto parts stores.

My question was whether people use gloss white or black spray. Not where to get Krylon banner Red. I have a ton of that.

Hey, one quick question. The guitars look sweet by t he way, What did you use for a finish? Satin, Laquer(spelling!), or auto clear coat? Also, when you got done with each coat of clear coat, did you wet sand it, or dry sand it? How many coats of clear coat did you use? I'm going to be ready to do mine as soon as the weather warms up a little. Any help would be great!

    Frankenstrat guys,

What do you use to cut the pickguard? Hacksaw? Tin snips? I'm building a Strat and using a Tone zone for the bridge pick-up. Think I will just cut the pickguard I bought as it won't fit with a Floyd Rose bridge, but is a S/S/H style pickguard. Also is my first attempt at soldering so one pick-up will be enough for now. Thanks for any help.

    I think I want to build a Frankenstrat...not a 5150.
Has anyone done this with a Warmoth body? Reason I ask is BC I'm wondering if you chiseled out the route for the humbucker or bought it set up for a 'bucker...any advice is appreciated! -Red43j
Eddie must think I'm a BOZO to want to drop THAT much on one of his new Charvel Guitars!

Depends how accurate you want to be with your Frankenstrat. A guitar routed for a humbucker will have a smaller and much neater cavity for the pick-up. Look at Ed's and you'll see it's kinda lopsided and a little big, compared to the 5150 and other non pickguard humbucker guitars.

I have a Strat body I'm putting a Floyd Rose on and cutting out room for a humbucker in the bridge position. I don't care how it looks, I just want it to sound good and stay in tune. If I don't buy a new pickguard and cut my current one, I'll have a Frankenstrat minus the paint. I'm leaving the body unfinished, but it is routed for three single coil pick-ups.

Also I think Warmoth stuff rules. I have a guitar made from Warmoth parts circa '96. It has a standard thin neck on it. It is VERY close to my EBMM Axis neck. I ordered another for this new guitar I'm building. Hope it feels the same!!

Best of luck with your Frankie!
