I saw the show last night at Blossom and honestly I thought that Dave blew Sammy's doors off. Sammy's performance was just too close to the vest (except for 5150, a nice surprise) while Dave's had no lulls...crushing from start to finish.

(Let me add that I respect Sammy for playing songs from throughout his career, and wish Dave would do at least two or three solo songs!)

Here are my additions...

Open with "Good Enough!"

other cool tracks he could play:

"Rock Candy"
"Bad Motor Scooter"
"Serious Juju"
"Cabo Wabo" (not as intro music)
"Summer Nights"

Songs that could easily be DROPPED:
Give to Live
Red

Other Changes:
Kick in the band for "Right Now" and "Eagles Fly"...I was on the lawn and people were sitting down during the encore...ugh...

Any other thoughts?

He should drop any post-VH solo material.

Yep, I was waiting for 'Scooter, too , but we didn't get it. LOL, 'agree with ya about "kick in the band" on those two, especially Eagles Fly.

I agree he needs some setlist changes. He normally has a lot tougher setlist.
I would love to hear these instead of Red, Eagles and that turd Give to Live..

Summer Nights
Rock Candy
Humans Beings
Amsterdam
Let Sally Drive

I'm sure Sammy is allready switching it up for tonight. He never keeps his setlist the same.
Dave on the other hand will play straight through just like he did last night.

I agree that "Give to Live" and "Red" could be deleted and "Amsterdam" added. "Summer Nights" is an obvious must. Actually, if he played most of "Unboxed", "F.U.C.K.", and "Balance" I would be happy and then throw in "Summer Nights" and "Lil White Lie"

Sam needs MAJOR tweaking on his setlist. A new guitar player wouldn't hurt either. Especially if he is going to continue to do the Van Hagar stuff. He should just call Mike and Neil Schon and be done with it.

Your crazy!!! Vic and Mona rock. Were you at the same show I was? I know Vic doesn't do the songs note for note. But a little variety is the spice of life. I like the tweaking he did to the songs. The Dave guitarist, even though he was fuckin amazing, played the songs exactly like the album. I've heard them like that a millions times. I like them spiced up a little.

There is a big difference between spicing up, and butchering. Victor was HORRIBLE. And I stood right in front of him, on the barrier.

I can't decide who butchered VH songs more, Victor, or Gary Cherone.

Mona was not bad at all. She had good backing vocals, and played well. But Sam should still get Neil and Mike. He'd be MUCH better off.

Gary Cherone never butchered VH tunes, at least he played alot of VH tunes on the 98 tour.He did a far better job on Roth era tunes than sammy ever did. That tour was fresh, not the same old thing sammy was doing with VH

He BUTCHERED BOTH Van HALEN and Van Hagar songs! In fact, he butchered the band. Or slaughtered it. One or the other. They still haven't recovered from that fiasco.

Gary was just fine performing DLR and Hagar tunes and he didn't destroy the band either. The only input from Gary on VH3 was his lyrics and voice.

He should probably play one of his good "love songs like
I Don't Need Love
or Don't Tell Me (What Love Can Do)

and drop Why Can't This Be Love or When It's Love
if those are two that he plays.

Think about how the 4 songs mentioned here. I think I would play the balls to the wall rockers live at my show, and sing the others to my old lady on the way to see a chick flick, huh? What gives?

I wanna hear the Red Rocker, not the Red Hot Lover!
John 3:16, Can You Dig It?

People, the 6 wings of the Mighty Van Halen will fly again! Can You Dig It?

You gotta give more than you take! Can You Dig it?

And underneath the arch, it turned into a march,
and there He found a spark to set this fucker off!
Set it off, set it off now children, set if off!

We are down the road! I Can Dig It! Can You?

The thing is you can'r play summer nights with out a trans trem guitar and even then it's a tough song so i don't think they'll be adding that. but Rock Candy, Black and Blue, Humens Being, would be cool

That's why the band lasted so long. You people obviously have no idea what Van HALEN was. Go find an Extreme site to hang on, with the 3 other Cherbone fans.
