I saw two shows. One where DLR opened and one where Sammy opened.

Each night, the closer seemed to be more powerful from a sonic standpoint. Do they give the "closer" more of the PA (you know...more volume).........or is this just me imagining things.

It doesn't seem to make sense for the opener to go on while the sun is still out..........the darker it gets the better the show got......I know I'm crazy........but anyone else notice this.
Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. There's just a small group of people who have strange allegiances and like to get into petty pissing contests that I can't believe everyone on this site isn't bored of. - Brett

I did not think that was the case at the Tweeter Center on Saturday at all. Dave had great sound. I don't think Sammy had better sound. In fact it could be argued sometimes the opener has the advantage to win the audience over early.....

I think it all depends on the show you see....

I think the opener has the advantage.

I was dead tired 3/4 through Roth after seeing 1:30 of Hagar and then the :30 break.

I loved the Roth show best, but couldn't fully enjoy. Maybe I am getting older, but 3 hours of loud tunes is a bit much for me.

IMO It all depends on the era that the audience prefers. If it's a 'Sammy-town', Sammy has the advantage, no matter if he opens or closes. If it's a 'Dave-town' Dave has the advantage.

I don't think that there will be a lot of DaveHeads or REDheads that change their opinion about the 'other' singer when leaving the show.

I wished I could go see them.......

I have to agree that the "opener" has an advantage. Normally, you can just sit and maybe half-listen to the opening act, but with these guys, you are standing and rocking from the very start. It is a pace that is hard to keep up, especially with the summer heat.

I saw the Dave and Sammy show in West Palm Beach, FL. I prefer Dave-era and was excited that he was the unexpected closer, but, damn if I was not exhausted 3/4 thru his show.

The opener, no question. After seeing the crowd last night, I believe that now. First of all most people are starting to wear out by then, and of course you will get people trickling out to beat the traffic. That has an overall negative impact on the atmosphere.
"There's a Japanese term called wabi-sabi, not wasabi, but wabi-sabi. It means an appreciation for the imperfect, the less than precision. The cowboy boots that you never polish because it's bad luck. That is completely wabi-sabi. Van Halen is that." - DLR 2002<br /><br />"Look! I can see their parachutes!
