CANCELLATION NOTICE

LOS ANGELES - Due to production logistics, the start of the second leg of the Sammy Hagar/ David Lee Roth concert tour "Song For Song, The Heavyweight Champs Of Rock And Roll," has been pushed back two days. The tour will officially kick off in Oklahoma City, OK on Thursday, July 25th. The Bossier City, Louisiana performance on July 23rd has been cancelled. Ticket refunds will be issued at the ticket purchaser's original point of purchase.

The tour's first leg launched May 29 in Cleveland, Ohio to packed houses and tremendous critical acclaim. This is the first time these legendary rock 'n rollers--and former Van Halen frontmen--have been featured on the same bill, each performing an arsenal of hits.

I do not understand how if the show has been scheduled for a while they can have production "logistics issues" 7 days before the show. I am wondering if something is up.

I think this show was canceled due to poor ticket sales, not because of the "production logistics" like the media release states. Hey xaminer, if you're going to miss the July 23rd show, drive over to Nashville on August 3rd to see it. I drove all the way from Panama City, Florida to Dallas and Houston Texas to see the Dave/Sam tour. It's over 700 miles from PC to Dallas

I can't afford to go to Nashville. I live an hour from Shreveport. It's a bummer. Anyway, yeah, the guys on the radio said that the ticket sales just weren't there either. Now of course, you never know about radio guys, but they probably do have some knowledge of how many tickets have sold.

They can always lower the prices and have some "give-aways" to get the attention of the fans out there.
I don't know, is this place a "shed"?

If it is, then why not let the lawn people move down to the seats so it would have alot more intamacy?

Sammy & Dave Nix Tour Opener
Updated 11:02 PDT Wed, Jul 17 2002
The second leg tour opener for Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth has been cut from the itinerary. The concert, scheduled for July 23 at the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City, La., was canceled due to "production logistics," according to the duo's publicist.
Those who bought tickets are advised to get refunds, as the event will not be rescheduled.
The tour is now set to kick off in Oklahoma City July 25.
Though they have yet to appear onstage at the same time, Hagar and Roth - who frequently traded jabs in the press - embarked on this co-headlining tour earlier this year, both of them mixing solo hits and material from their Van Halen days.
The outing, which began in May, has grossed $5.6 million thus far and has nabbed the co-bill a No. 27 slot on POLLSTAR's Mid-Year Top 50 Tours list.
With the success of the first leg of Song For Song: The Heavyweight Champs Of Rock And Roll, as it's officially dubbed, Hagar and Roth tagged on a second string of shows, which looks to rock fans into September.

I would say this tour is pretty successful...

Yeah when was the last time cracked the top 50 in anything?
SKYSCRAPER?

maybe MWM or CGTSNM did, but as a solo artist?

But this has me a little concerned regarding the fate of this second leg. I haven't checked, but I hope that they aren't playing anywhere near places that they allready have. Once is enough for this tour, two might be disaster.

But they NEED to finish this tour or it will be nothing but a total joke if they don't.
The only way it could end peacefully would be if one of them got injured or joined Van Halen.

Take it from somebody who lives in Louisiana. This state a'int big on Van Halen, or should I say rock period. Numerous big name rock acts have stopped, and often times failed to sellout. For instance, Kiss couldn't completely fill the Cajundome in Lafayette for their "Farewell Tour".

I went to see Hagar in Shreveport at the Horeshoe Casino's Riverdome in '99. The place seats no more than 1,000, and was roughly half full. When I saw he was trying to take on the 18,000 Centurytel Center, I was a bit skeptical. Without a doubt I believe the sales were awful.

What pisses me off is that the Eagles sold-out the place just a couple of weeks before. Talk about being shit on!

I knew this was going to happen, because I went to Ticketmaster about a week and a half ago and pulled up 2 tickets just to see what section i would be in. At that time, it was putting me into one of the sections right in front of the stage which means they still hadn't even sold out those sections in front of the stage. That would mean they had only sold about 1 thousand tickets for the show. With all that equipment and the price of overhead they can't afford to play to only 1-2 thousand folks.

Why not drive to OKC? I drove from OKC to Shreveport to see the Indenpendence Bowl and do not remember it being more than 5 hours...
