Can we be less vague and more spacific.

    Best Rock Drummer?
    Best All around drummer?
    Best Jazz/Funk/Latin Drummer?
    Most influential Drummer?

Most of my list I wonder if you've even heard of them?

    Best Rock Drummer: John Bonham
Best All Around Drummer: Simon Phillips
    Best Jazz: Jeff "Tain" Watts
    Best Funk: Dennis Chambers
    Best Latin: Vinnie Calutta
    Most Influential: Buddy Rich/John Bonham/Animal

And again, "best" is more subjective than "favorite"

My favorite drummers all happen to be
a part of the Zappa family tradition.

    1. JOE TRAVERS
    2. Terry Bozzio
    3. Chad Wackerman
    Non Zappa Folk
    4. Alex Van Halen
    5. Mike Portnoy

These are all 'ROK' guys. I have a
slew of favorite jazz drummers but I won't
bore you guys to death with 'em.

    No vagueness here brother, ...

Like it says "Top 5", ... our "opinions" would be more of the term I was looking for mot best or favorite.

What is a parradiddle? I know it must be a drum term. Is it like a triple roll or something like that?

    Word, ...

    *drag*

Thanks Timmy for the pick up.

And by my differentiating 'best' from 'favorite' I mean, for example, Neil Peart is/was one of the best, but never one of my favs. It's all about who reaches that groove inside ya.

    NB, this is a paradiddle

RLRR LRLL, just like the mans signature says. A paradiddle is just one of many essential rudiments that us drummer need to learn before anything else IMHO.

    Cool Man, ...

Hey Paradiddle and TT, ... What do you think of Lars Ulrich(before the whole napster thang) and why wasn't he on your list?

Maybe I should put it at "Top 10" cause he didn't make my list either.

Was he the innovator of the "off beat" crashes?

Also maybe give your opinion on Matt Cameron cause I saw Pearl Jam a couple of weeks ago and he himself is one "off beat" crashin' mo'fo!

Lars just doesn't have any "feel" or groove to his playing. Plus his hands suck. Great feet though.
