Come on. Kobe is a great young player but he's hardly Jordan. Nobody will ever be able to hold a candle to MJ. No one will ever equal his airness. The personality, his domination on the court, his stats. Jordan is a frigging deity when it comes to b-ball. The guy was scoring 60+ points in only his second season in the NBA. In the second season, Jordan led his team to the playoffs and battled Bird and the Celtics. He and his his Bulls held one of the greatest teams of all time, Karl Malone's Jazz to second best two years in a row. Plus, he won three NBA titles, left for two years, and then picked up right where he lefy off with three more. Long story short, MJ was and will always be the greatest player to have played the game. It really pisses me off when a young hot shot player makes it big, automatically he's the new MJ. Vince Carter was the leading scorer in the NBA for a few weeks so he's the new MJ. Kobe Bryant dunks alot so he's the new MJ. Shaq is big and scores alot of points so he's the new Wilt Chamberlin. It's all bullshit!

Michael Jordan is definitely the game's best player and no matter how many times ESPN tries to find someone like him, they won't succeed. But I would say that Vince Carter is the closest to the next Jordan. He has spectacular dunking ability and is shooting the ball better from long range. But he still hasn't got what Jordan had: he wanted to win more than anyone and got the job done whichever way worked.

Michael Jordan is the David Lee Roth of Basketball!!

Kobe? Well, he and Horace Grant are the only Lakers I can respect at the moment. But the new Jordan?? I don't think so!

Last I heard was Mitch Malloy was being touted as the next Michael Jordan. Am I missing something here?

Kobe at 22 or MJ at 22? Kobe any day of the week and on Sunday too. Those who deny that he is a great player, or that he can carry a team, are ignorant. BTW, MJ never won a damn thing before he had a decent supporting cast behind him, you guys must casually be forgetting his first 5 years in the league.

Aw c'mon Brett, yeah, he is a good player. MJ? You cant seriously say that he is truly comparable to MJ can you? If I remember right (like I'm gonna forget), he didnt do a whole helluvalot for you guys in game 7 last year against you know who. for that entire series for that matter. Out of ALL the games last year, that one had to have counted most. Thats just one game, sure, but it speaks volumes. He's young, I'm interested what he brings later on. He has talent, thats for sure, but I dont think he is another MJ. Possible, maybe later on (3-4 years) but I just dont see it in his personality. He doesnt have his priorities straight to achieve that status. MJ was ALL about winning. Kobe just likes the money, the show, and the fame that comes along with it. Thats the important thing to him. The rings are unfortunately, albeit close, in second. ......IMO.

There will only be one Michael Jordan. The NBA is pretty much trash now without Mike. When he was playing all these kids were at home praticing his moves. Now we have the Kobes the Vinces...he's the next MJ, no he is the next MJ.....when Mike played there was no one like him. Nobody had his skills and nobody had his heart.

MJ was all about winning? Every player wants to win, and until MJ had a supporting cast and a real coach, he was just a scorer, you guys are forgetting the late 80's Chicago Bulls.

MJ was the defensive player of the year in 1988, the steals leader in 1988, and made the all defense first team in 1988, 1989 and 1990. All before winning a championship.

I clearly remember the late eighties because Michael Jordan continually kicked the Cavs asses in the playoffs. When he was younger and when he was older with a better team did not matter. When it came down to it, you knew who was getting the ball and you knew he was going to score
