You know you grew up in the 1980s when...."

-You know what "Sike" means.

-You know the profound meaning of "Wax on, Wax off."

-You know that another name for a keyboard is a "Synthesizer."

-You can sing the McDonald's Big Mack,Filet-o-fish, quarter pounder, and French fry song.

-You know who Mr. T is.

-You know who Fat Albert is. And who was old boy with the pink mask?

-You ever wore fluorescent, neon clothing.

-You could breakdance, or wish you could.

-You wanted to be The Hulk for Halloween.

-You Believed that "By the power of Greyskull, you HAD the power.

-Partying "like it's 1999" seemed SO far away.

-You thought that Transformers were "more than meets the eye".

-You knew that knowing is half the battle.

-You wanted to be on Star Search.

-You can remember Michael Jackson when he was black.

-You wore a banana clip at some point during your youth.

-You remember the garbage pail kids, and owned some.

-You knew what Willis was "talkin' 'bout."

-Rut row raggy. and Zoinks.

-You HAD to have your MTV.

-You actually thought "Dirty Dancing" was a REALLY good movie.

-You remember when ATARI was a state of the art video game.

-You owned any cassettes.

-You were led to believe that in the year 2000 we'd all be living in space.

-You know what leg warmers are and probably had a pair.

-You wore biker shorts underneath a short skirt and felt stylish.

-You wore your Izod shirt with the collar up.

-You had a Swatch Watch with the Swatch Guard.

-Your Legos collection started with the free sets in a Happy Meal.

-You remember when Happy Meals came in a box, not a paper bag.

-You remember when Saturday Night Live was funny.

-You had Wonder Woman or Superman underoos.

-You know what a "Push Up" ice cream is.

-You had to come in the house when the street lights came on.

-You had to change into play clothes after school.

-You owned, or knew somebody with a Commodore 64.

-You hated Scrappy Doo.

-You recorded songs off the radio with your boom box.

-You wished you had a light saber.

-Somehow you still know all the words to songs played on VH1's "Big 80s"

-Your arm was full of rubber bracelets.

-You have ever said, "Gag me with a spoon."

-You have ever wondered what happened to Saturday morning cartoons.

-You had to get up to change the channel, or had one of those noisey "clicky boxes".

-You can still sing 1 to 12 from the Pinball machine song on Sesame Street.

-You thought the Thriller video was pretty cool.

-You remember the first time you went in to a video store to rent a movie.

-Canadians watched...Romper-Room, Mr. Dress-up, and the Friendly Giant - remember the teeny weeny furniture you wished you had?!

-You wore those wide, colorfull shoelaces.

-Quiet Riot's "Come on feel the noise" was the best song - ever.

-You know where "I want my two dollars" came from.

-You still cannot go in to the water because of that damn movie Jaws.

-El Debarge's "Get a Beat to the Rhythm of the Night" plagued the radio every hour.

-You remember life before minivans and SUVs.

-Cars...Gremlins were cool - Pacers were not!

If you can identify with at least half of this list then you, my friend, are a "Child of the 80s".
Right Now you're reading my post!

I can't stand rap....people who can't sing do rap....you can sing rebellion as well as talk it....Hitler would have been in a rap band...

Any one remember A Family Affair with Jodi Buffy, Mr French and Miss Beasly

Here's another...just for us chicks:

YOU KNOW YOU WERE A LITTLE GIRL IN THE 70's /80's IF:
> > >
> > > You wore that rainbow shirt that was half-sleeves and
> > > the rainbow went up one sleeve, across your chest and
> > > down the other.
> > >
> > > You made baby chocolate cakes in your Holly Hobbie
> > > Easy Bake Oven. You washed them down with The Snoopy
> > > Snow Cone Machine.
> > >
> > > You had that Fisher Price Doctor's kit with a
> > > stethoscope that actually worked. After training with
> > > these tools you became an expert at the game of "operation".
> > >
> > > You owned a schwin bicycle with a floral banana seat
> > > and a basket. In the early 80's you moved onto the
> > > ever popular 10 speed. Gosh that seat hurt.
> > >
> > > Your roller skates had metal wheels.
> > >
> > > You had rubber boots for rainy days. Your shoes
> > > actually fit inside of the boots (with a little help
> > > from your Mom and some> plastic bags).
> > >
> > > Your Holly Hobby sleeping bag was your most prized
> > > possession.
> > >
> > > You wore a "poncho" with your faux fur "muff" and toe
> > > socks with your clogs.
> > >
> > > You begged Santa for the electronic game...Simon.
> > >
> > > You had homemade ribbon barrettes in every imaginable color.
> > >
> > > You kept losing your mittens so your Mom bought you
> > > the kind that were attached by a string.
> > >
> > > Your Hello Kitty pencil case was cuter than anyone else's.
> > >
> > > You wanted to be Laura Ingalls Wilder really bad.
> > >
> > > You wore that Little House on the Prairie-inspired
> > > plaid, ruffled shirt with the high neck in at least
> > > one school picture.
> > >
> > > You wanted your first kiss to be at the roller rink.
> > >
> > > You tried to make sure that no boys would grab the
> > > comb out of your back pocket and skate away at the
> > > roller rink.
> > >
> > > Your hairstyle was described as having "wings".
> > >
> > > Strawberry Shortcake and her friends Blueberry Muffin
> > > and Huckleberry Pie.
> > >
> > > You carried a Muppets lunch box to school.
> > >
> > > Every now and then "Its A Hard Knock Life" will pop
> > > into your brain and you can't stop singing it all day.
> > >
> > > You thought unicorns were real.
> > >
> > > It was a big event in your household each year when
> > > the "Wizard of Oz" would come on TV. Break out the
> > > popcorn and sleeping bags!
> > >
> > > Light as a feather, stiff as a board.
> > >
> > > You loved The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe so
> > > much you got the whole Chronicles of Narnia series for
> > > Christmas but never read the other books.
> > >
> > > You completely wore-out your Grease, Saturday Night
> > > Fever, Footloose and Flashdance soundtrack albums.
> > >
> > > You tried to do lots of arts and crafts things, like
> > > yarn and popsicle stick God's Eyes or those weird
> > > potholders made on a plastic loom.
> > >
> > > Shrinky-dinks! What was so appealing about these? I
> > > still remember how the oven smelled when they were
> > > "baking".
> > >
> > > You used to tape record songs off the radio by holding
> > > your portable tape recorder up to the speaker.
> > >
> > > You couldn't wait to get the free animal poster that
> > > came when youordered books from the Scholastic book
> > > orders your teacher would give you.Remember?
> > > The order catalogs looked like miniature newspapers.
> > >
> > > You learned everything you needed to know about girl
> > > Issues from JudyBlume books. Are you there God? It's
> > > Me Margaret.
> > >
> > > Care Bears.
> > >
> > > You thought Olivia Newton John's song "Physical" was
> > > about aerobics.
> > >
> > > Friendship pins which you wore on your tennis shoes.
> > >
> > > Shoelaces with heart or rainbow designs.
> > >
> > > You wore knickers.
> > >
> > > You collected Smurfs.
> > >
> > > You wanted to be a Solid Gold dancer.

Oh man!!! the 80's ruled!
How about: Quiet Riots Cum on feel the noise: I remember that we would write the lyrics on the chalk board and the teacher would freak out how we spelled "cum"...we did NOT know what it meant at the time.
Also Def Leppard's Pyromania was really heavy metal at the time.REO Speedwagon RULED for dancing to slow songs with the hottest chicks!
Van Halen was a freak....REALLY: Teachers and parents despised these guys.but when Michael Jackson had Beat It..VH was cool! How times have changed///Parachute pants on a girl meant that she was COOL and good-looking!
Total Eclipse of the Heart was a cool song...Now it is just a JOKE to listen to.
Remember the rap (crap) song "Jam on it"
Break dancing was THE THING TO LEARN if you were "cool". Jam on it, Jam on it, jjjjjjjjjjjjjjam ON IT! ha ha MEMORIES
The first time you felt boobies and felt a snatch is very religous!
Girls were teasers and teased their hair until it fell out! HAIR SPRAY was a dynasty for salesman! Now those girls you felt up are fat and ugly..(most of them). Still VH can rock with the best and Michael Jackson is a molestor and wearing parachute pants means you are probably retarded!
Just go for it!

yankeerose, and all you other canucks, remember: mr. dressup has been and always will be the greatest children's show on television. sure, sesame street had the longevity, and it's great too, but mr.dressup was, and always will be the cat's ass.

yeah, and i still think that def leppard is an amazingly talented band. they're one of my favorites as well.
